Taylor Swift has reacted to Ryan Gosling‘s Barbie-themed take on her song ‘All Too Well’.

Gosling was hosting SNL this weekend when he performed the reworked rendition of Swift’s ‘Red‘ classic for his opening monologue.

The actor was joined by Emily Blunt – who played Kitty in Oppenheimer and stars alongside Gosling in their new film The Fall Guy – when they drew a line under the Barbenheimer phenomenon that surrounded their respective Oscar-nominated roles.

Must confess, we’re a mess, doing press / Now it’s time to wish Ken, Kitty, both of us, farewell,” they sang together.

Now Swift has shared her reaction to the musical skit. “All Too Well (Ryan and Emily’s Version) !!!” the singer wrote on social media.

“Watch me accidentally catch myself singing this version on tour. This monologue is EVERYTHING.”

Gosling’s rendition comes after he performed a showstopping version of ‘I’m Just Ken’ at this year’s Oscars alongside Mark Ronson and Slash.

Swift, meanwhile, is preparing to release her next album called ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, which arrives on April 19.

‘The Tortured Poets Department’ will mark Swift’s 11th studio album. It follows her 2022 record ‘Midnights’, and more recently the singer’s re-recordings of ‘Speak Now’ and ‘1989’.

She has since opened up about how writing the new record was “really a lifeline for me” to help her through “the things I was going through” at the time.

“It kind of reminded me of why songwriting is something that actually gets me through my life, and I never had an album where I needed songwriting more than I needed it on ‘Tortured Poets’,” she said during an ‘Eras’ show in Melbourne this February.

She’s already teased some lyrics from the album and revealed the fourth and final variant of ‘The Tortured Poets Department’.

He continued: “There is never a masterplan when we make a record. The records rather reflect back the emotional state of the writers and musicians who played them. Listening to this, I don’t know, it seems we’re happy.”

He previously shared that the album isn’t “set through a lens of loss” like ‘Skeleton Tree’ (2016) and ‘Ghosteen’ (2019), which were centred around the loss of his 15-year-old son Arthur.

Jon Bon Jovi may never sing live again: “If I can’t be the guy I once was, then I’m done”

“I’m good with that”

The post Jon Bon Jovi may never sing live again: “If I can’t be the guy I once was, then I’m done” appeared first on NME.

NME

Jon Bon Jovi has revealed that he may never sing live again, admitting that if he can’t be “great”, then he’s “done”.

The ’80s rock legend opened up about his ailing vocals in a new interview with The Sunday Times, sharing: “If the singing is not great, if I can’t be the guy I once was… then I’m done.”

He added: “And I’m good with that.”

Last month, the ‘Livin’ On A Prayer’ singer revealed that he was uncertain about being able to tour again after undergoing surgery on his vocal cords in 2022.

The artist said he’d undergone a procedure known as medialisation in 2022 after one of his vocal cords was found to be atrophying.

Elaborating in his interview with The Times, Bon Jovi said there was a “big difference between being in a studio and going out on the road”.

He explained: “We have just recorded a new album. I sing in vocal therapy every day. But I want to perform for two and a half hours a night, four nights a week – and I know how good I can be, so if I can’t be that guy … put it this way, I don’t ever need to be the fat Elvis.”

The band’s 16th studio album, ‘Forever’, is due to be released on June 7, 2024, which they previously described as “a return to joy”.

Speaking to Ultimate Classic Rock, the frontman said he had to “work through a lot of dark misery” to arrive at the joy.

He continued: “Our last record, which was called ‘2020’, was a lot of observations and narratives about what was going on in the world around us – whether it was the COVID crises or George Floyd, shootings in schools, soldiers with PTSD.”

The band’s new four-part docuseries Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story – will debut on HULU in the US and Disney+ in the UK on April 26.

Bon Jovi said that the series will explain “why we are what we are,” including “all of the truths, all of the warts, all of the punches in the nose that got us to this place.”

The sons of Paul McCartney and John Lennon have written a song together – check out James McCartney and Sean Ono Lennon’s ‘Primrose Hill’

The track follows James McCartney’s February comeback single ‘Beautiful’

James McCartney and Sean Ono Lennon – the sons of Paul McCartney and John Lennon – have written a song together called ‘Primrose Hill’ – check it out below.

The song is a tender acoustic number about spending time with a loved one at the popular London beauty spot, which appears on the single’s cover art.

I’ll always remember Primrose Hill,” James McCartney sings wistfully on the chorus, backed by a mellow guitar melody.

“‘Primrose Hill’ is here!” shared James McCartney on social media alongside a picture with his co-writer. “Today I am so very excited to share my latest song co-written by my good friend @seanonolennon. With the release of this song it feels like we’re really getting the ball rolling and I am so excited to continue to share music with you.”

Listen to ‘Primrose Hill’ below.

Back in February, James announced his return to music in the form of the new single ‘Beautiful’ – his first new song since 2016.

James grew up contributing to recording sessions for his father’s albums ‘Flaming Pie’ in 1997 and ‘Driving Rain’ in 2001, as well as his mother Linda McCartney’s 1998 release ‘Wide Prairie’.

He started to release his own solo material in 2010 with a series of EPs, before he released his debut studio album ‘Me’ in 2013. This was followed up by 2016’s ‘The Blackberry Train’, before he went on a hiatus from music.

James has also become something of an unlikely internet sensation over the years due to a number of viral clips that have followed his career, including his dad’s message of encouragement (“Hey Jamesy, rock it man, I know you will!”) before a performance on ITV’s Lorraine.

He also appeared in an NME 66 Second Interview in 2012, answering the majority of the music-related questions by referencing his dad’s band.

Back in November, rumours began to swirl about the possibility of a band being formed out of the original Beatles’ children. But Ringo Starr’s son Zak Starkey shut down the rumours about a supergroup with Sean Lennon and Dhani Harrison.

In other Beatles news, meanwhile, the band shared their “final” track, ‘Now And Then’, back in November – which stemmed back to a demo recorded by Lennon, and was completed with the help of AI.

Billie Eilish previews new song ‘Lunch’ during secret Coachella DJ set

Billie Eilish gave fans a preview of her new song ‘Lunch’ during a secret Coachella set this weekend.

The singer took to the stage for a performance on the Do LaB stage on Saturday (April 13), where she teased tracks from her forthcoming new album ‘Hit Me Hard And Soft’ (out May 17).

During the DJ set, she previewed three new songs, ‘L’Amour De Ma Vie’, ‘Chihiro’ and ‘Lunch’.

The lyrics to the third track have since been shared online, in which Eilish sings: “I could eat that girl for lunch / Yeah, she dances on my tongue / Tastes like she might be the one / And I can never get enough I could buy her so much stuff / It’s a craving, not a crush.

Check out clips from the set below.

Fans have reacted online to the suggestive lyrics that feature in ‘Lunch’, with one sharing on X/Twitter: “Finally a gay Billie song we are out of the trenches. “Gay Billie song oh I used to pray for times like this,” another said.

Back in December, Eilish responded to Variety “outing her” during an interview, stating: “I like boys and girls, leave me alone about it please”.

Fans have suggested that the versions played during her Coachella set could be remixed versions of the tracks.

Upon announcing ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’, Eilish confirmed that she won’t be sharing any singles ahead of its release. “Finneas and I truly could not be more proud of this album and we absolutely can’t wait for you to hear it,” she also added. “Love you love you love you.”

Eilish’s performance came after Lana Del Rey brought the singer out for ‘Ocean Eyes’ and ‘Video Games’ at Coachella.

Following the performance, Del Rey told the crowd that Eilish is “the voice of your generation”, adding that she is “so fucking grateful that she’s standing to me right now singing my favourite song of hers.”

In response, Eilish pointed to Del Rey and said: “This is the reason for half of you bitches’ existence, including mine.”

Watch Justin Bieber join Wizkid and Tems to perform ‘Essence’ at Coachella

The trio performed the 2020 hit during Tems’ set on the closing day of weekend one

Justin Bieber made a surprise appearance onstage with Wizkid and Tems during their performance of ‘Essence’ at Coachella 2024.

Towards the end of Tems’ set on Sunday (April 14), she brought out her ‘Essence’ collaborator Wizkid and special guest Bieber on the California music festival’s Mojave stage.

“Give it up for Justin!” Tems said at the end of the song. “Oh my god, this is crazy. Love you.”

Check out snippets of their performance below.

The performance marks Bieber’s return to the Coachella stage, having performed as a guest during Ariana Grande‘s 2019 set and with Daniel Caesar for their hit ‘Peaches’ in 2022.

Bieber has kept a lower stage profile in recent years since revealing he was suffering from facial paralysis due to Ramsay Hunt syndrome in 2022.

He recently turned down joining Usher during his Super Bowl Halftime performance, though the R&B star said he “understands” why, adding: “It’s a lot of pressure.”

Elsewhere during her set, Tems performed ‘Crazy Tings’, ‘Avoid Things’, ‘Replay’, ‘Me & U’ and ‘Free Mind’ among other hits.

Other surprise guest appearance highlights from this year’s Coachella included J Balvin bringing out Will Smith for a performance of the Men In Black theme song, Reneé Rapp introducing Kesha for a cover of the latter’s hit ‘Tik Tok’ and Olivia Rodrigo joining No Doubt to perform ‘Bathwater’ during the band’s set.

Elsewhere, Vampire Weekend closed out their last minute Coachella set with a surprise appearance from Paris Hilton and Abraham Lincoln during their country ‘Cocaine Cowboys’ medley.

Damon Albarn tells Blur’s lackluster Coachella crowd: “You’re never seeing us again so you might as well fucking sing it”

The frontman didn’t have much luck initiating a singalong to ‘Girls & Boys’ at the California music festival

The post Damon Albarn tells Blur’s lackluster Coachella crowd: “You’re never seeing us again so you might as well fucking sing it” appeared first on NME.

NME

Blur‘s Damon Albarn aired his frustration live on stage while performing to an unenthusiastic Coachella crowd this weekend.

The Britpop legend performed with his band at the California music festival on Saturday (April 13), in between sets from Sublime and No Doubt, before Tyler, The Creator headlined that evening.

Blur delivered a career-spanning set on the Coachella main stage, including fan favourites like ‘Song 2’ and ‘Popscene’.

However, Albarn was visibly irritated when attempting to perform a call and response with the US crowd during ‘Girls & Boys’.

“You can do it better than that,” he told attendees at one point, which was met by a quiet crowd. When he still didn’t get the desired response, the frontman said: “You’re never seeing us again, so you might as well fucking sing it. Know what I’m saying?”

Blur fans were quick to share their frustration on social media at seeing the British music legends receive a lukewarm response across the pond.

“Damon Albarn I’m so sorry they’re being so disrespectful to you,” one fan wrote on X/Twitter. “One of the greatest concert artists in history and they do this to him,” another added. “The crowd for blur at coachella was so embarassing im so sorry i wasn’t there,” a third shared.

Despite the lackluster crowd response, Blur are scheduled to perform at Coachella weekend 2 this Saturday (April 20).

Albarn received a more enthusiastic welcome to the Coachella stage back in 2022 when he joined Billie Eilish during her set. They performed Eilish’s song ‘Getting Older’ and Gorillaz’s hit ‘Feel Good Inc’.

This weekend, Blur performed tracks from their 2023 album ‘The Ballad of Darren’ including ‘The Narcissist’ and ‘St. Charles Square’.

They were also joined by the Torres Martinez Cahuilla Bird Singers, a group of tribal singers from the area local to the festival’s Mojave Desert, California setting.

During the performance, the collective paid tribute to YG Marley’s grandfather Bob Marley with snippets of ‘Is This Love’ and ‘Exodus’.

“Coachella, if you don’t want no more war in the world, put your hands in the air,” said Jean as Marley’s ‘War’ played (per Variety).

Hill’s performance at Coachella comes after she postponed the remaining dates of her tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’, citing a “serious vocal strain for the past month”.

In November 2023, the lengthy caption revealed that she had been performing recent shows while on prescribed medication. “I made it through each show by taking prescribed prednisone,” she wrote. “In order to prevent any long term negative affect on my voice and my body, I need to take time off to allow for real vocal recovery so that I can discontinue the medication completely.”

She’s since returned to performing with a handful of shows across February, March and April of this year.

Meanwhile, Busta Rhymes will be joining Missy Elliott announces on her first ever headline tour alongside Ciara.

Watch The Libertines deliver their first TikTok dance in bid to claim Number One album

“Some bands will do anything for a number one record…”

The post Watch The Libertines deliver their first TikTok dance in bid to claim Number One album appeared first on NME.

NME

The Libertines have unveiled their best dance moves in a bid to get their new album to Number One.

Pete Doherty, Carl Barât and co. returned with their new album ‘All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade’ last week, which NME awarded four stars while hailing the group for “finding their voice again”.

Now the band are seemingly up for anything in the hopes to land the record at the top of the charts. In a new spoof social media video, Doherty tells Barât: “Of course I want to get a Number One. It’s not like there’s a set formula for it.”

Barât replies that he can’t just get the Number One “because you think you deserve one”, before the pair read over suggestions from their label after determining that “sell a lot of records” is not a viable option.

While at first Barât turns down the suggestion of a TikTok dance, the video quickly cuts to a snippet of the co-frontman and Doherty pulling out their best dance moves to their single ‘Run Run Run’.

“Some bands will do anything for a number one record… not us, no sir x,” they captioned the tongue in cheek video. Watch it here.

Reviewing ‘…Eastern Esplanade’, NME wrote that “the sense of listening in on a band teetering on the precipice of disaster is gone, replaced by a more stable and necessarily safer version of The Libertines”.

It went on: “The results may be patchy, but this is not, and could not be, an album that rides the same intoxicating high as ‘Up the Bracket’. What they have done, though, is find their voice again, and, for the first time in over 20 years, The Libertines feel like a band with a viable future.”

Speaking to NME ahead of the release, the band said a sense of sobriety, togetherness and the desire “to write beautiful songs” helped shape the record.
