Geoff Keighley of The Game Awards will host the presentation. As reported by VGC, these announcements “will take you on a journey through time and space,” according to THQ Nordic. It will also include the “return of legendary franchises, including some for which fans have been waiting decades to get their hands on a new instalment”, and sequels to “beloved games.”
THQ Nordic came to be when Nordic Games acquired all of the leftover properties when THQ went bankrupt in 2013. The company eventually acquired the THQ trademark and rebranded as THQ Nordic. It has published numerous games over the years and has 19 development studios under its banner.
THQ Nordic’sBiomutant celebrated 1million sales last month. The game was originally released in May of this year and recovered its development costs within the first week on the market.
A report from parent company Embracer Group said that “The main revenue driver in the quarter was the release of Biomutant from our internal studio Experiment 101. So far, the game has sold more than one million copies. The full investment into development and marketing as well as the acquisition cost for Experiment 101 and the IP, was recouped within a week after launch.”
During an appearance on SiriusXM’s “Trunk Nation Virtual Invasion”, IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson was asked whether he would like to work on a new solo album to follow up 2005’s “Tyranny Of Souls”. He reponded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET):…
During an appearance on SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation Virtual Invasion", IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson was asked whether he would like to work on a new solo album to follow up 2005's "Tyranny Of Souls". He reponded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Not only would I like to. I've got a work in progress right now that's been kind of on and off, on the backburner, for, well, three or four years now. And basically, since the pandemic happened, I may have had loads of time, but I can't go to America to do it — to finish up the writing for it, start the recording process and all that stuff. So I'm just waiting for Uncle Joe to let me into America."
Back in December 2017, Dickinson said that his next solo LP would likely include a reworked version of "If Eternity Should Fail", the opening track on IRON MAIDEN's 2015 disc "The Book Of Souls". At the time, he said that he had about "half" of his seventh record already written and he also confirmed that "If Eternity Should Fail" was originally penned as a Dickinson solo track.
He told Finland's Kaaos TV that the original plan was for his next solo record to be "a whole concept album, which was gonna be called 'If Eternity Should Fail'. And 'If Eternity Should Fail' was the title track to my new solo album," he said. "And a bit like [Dickinson's 1989 solo song] 'Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter' [laughs], it got commandeered for IRON MAIDEN. So if I did do another solo album, which I think I will, I might just stick to my original plan and have that as the title track. I mean, I did write it — it was the first track that I wrote for it. So, yeah, I'd probably still include that song. But it would be… the feel would be slightly different — not very much, though — from the MAIDEN version."
In 2015, Dickinson told France's Hard Force magazine that "If Eternity Should Fail" ended up being used by IRON MAIDEN after bassist Steve Harris heard the demos that Bruce was working on for what was supposed to be his next solo album. "And [Steve] went, 'That's a really cool song. Can we use that? That's gonna be the opening song on the album,'" he recalled. "And I went, 'Yeah, okay.' And he was already writing, I think… He was already thinking of 'The Book Of Souls' as being the title, so he told me about the Mayan thing. And I'm, like, 'Yeah, that's cool. Okay. Yeah, I see where you're going.' But in my case, that song was written as part of a story. So the spoken word at the end is the beginning of a story that goes through the whole album. And one of the characters is Dr. Necropolis; he's the bad guy. And the good guy is Professor Lazarus; he raises people from the dead. So that introduces Necropolis in the spoken-word thing. And I asked Steve… I said, 'Look. Okay. I get having the song…' 'Cause it opens up with, 'Here is the soul of a man.' 'Yup. Get that. But what about the end?' I said, 'Will people understand what this is about? Because this is nothing to do with the Mayans or anything. This is to do with… I'd come up with a concept album that doesn't happen.' [Laughs] And he [went], 'No, no, no. It's just talking about souls and everything, and it sounds great.' I went, 'Okay.' [Laughs]"
Dickinson made his recording debut with IRON MAIDEN on the "Number Of The Beast" album in 1982. He quit the band in 1993 in order to pursue his solo career and was replaced by Blaze Bayley, who had previously been the lead singer of the metal band WOLFSBANE. After releasing two traditional metal albums with former MAIDEN guitarist Adrian Smith, Dickinson rejoined the band in 1999 along with Smith. Since then, Dickinson has only released one more solo album (the aforementioned "Tyranny Of Souls") but has previously said that his solo career is not over.

As reported by PC Gamer, Reddit user klenkluke posted the video to r/csgo, which has around 4,400 upvotes. Viewable below, it very accurately translates plenty of details from the Minecraft user interface (UI) onto CSGO.
The gun is represented by a bow, the chat font looks straight out of everyone’s favourite block game, and the bomb timer even has a boss bar at the top of the screen.
To be clear, this isn’t a mod, as someone in the Reddit thread asked klenkluke if it was, and they replied, “it’s post [production] using screenshots of each inv state lol, but would be really amazing to have this as a mod somehow.”
What this video really uses to its advantage is the music and sound effects of Minecraft. Both are iconic, and both are quite tranquil, which as PC Gamer also notes, creates quite a different atmosphere for when you decide it’s time to clutch a game.
A clutch is when someone wins an online game with the odds heavily stacked against them, be that time or being the last person on a team and taking out the entire opposing side. The Counter-Strike: Global Offensive clip was a 1v4 with klenkluke successfully planting and having the bomb explode, so it’s definitely a clutch.

Backbeat Books has announced the October 1, 2021 release of "Van Halen: The Eruption And The Aftershock" by Michael Christopher. The book is available now for pre-order in multiple formats.
This is the epic story of how one of America's greatest bands weathered arguably the most dramatic soap opera in rock and roll history with songs that would weave themselves into the fabric of every musician who heard them, alongside an incendiary and unrivaled live show that wowed audiences worldwide.
Featuring exclusive interviews with insiders, fans and artists who were there to witness the rise, the tumult and the making of legends, it's a story that has to be read to be believed. The book includes input from members of BLACK SABBATH, ALICE IN CHAINS, VELVET REVOLVER, PANTERA, RATT, STRYPER and many, many more, alongside never-before-seen photos and previously unpublished interviews with VAN HALEN alums Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony and Gary Cherone.
Come the late '70s, the rock music landscape was littered with the bloated carcasses of bands who partied too hard, burned out or became complacent in success. The door was open for something fresh, wild and enrapturing.
Enter VAN HALEN.
Made up of two Dutch-born brothers, one on drums and the other whose guitar was an extension of his very being, a bass player with a golden throat, and a frontman who made up for his lack of traditional singing ability with attitude and gravity-defying acrobatics onstage, they were unlike anything ever seen before.
Alex and Edward Van Halen, Michael Anthony and David Lee Roth put a cap on one decade and exploded into the next with a brand of music not quite punk, not quite metal, and not at all subtle.
They went from headlining backyard keggers to top billing at the US Festival in front of three hundred thousand people within five years. Then, right when it looked like there wasn't an obstacle created to slow the mighty VAN HALEN ascent, the group imploded from the inside out, only to rebound stronger than ever with ex-MONTROSE howler Sammy Hagar leading them to four consecutive Number One albums.
"This book has been a passion project from the beginning, and you'll be hard pressed to find another writer who has covered VAN HALEN so comprehensively over the years and with such reverence,” says Christopher. "But after the passing of Eddie Van Halen, the news cycle eventually moved on. As it says in the introduction, I wasn't ready to, and felt like there was still much to say, not just from myself, but the fans, musicians, and so, so many more who have been affected by VAN HALEN."
Exhaustively researched, "Van Halen: The Eruption And The Aftershock" examines:
* The arrest of David Lee Roth on the "Van Halen II" tour
* Oakland 1981 and what footage actually exists from the fabled shows
* How close Roth cut making it to the US Festival after falling ill in the Amazon jungle
* What role VAN HALEN played in the 1985 PMRC hearings
* The strangely ignored first public appearance of "VAN HAGAR"
* Why the 2007 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction fell apart
Early Praise for "Van Halen: The Eruption And The Aftershock"Stephen Pearcy (RATT): "Amazing book. Only a few people will get VAN HALEN's insides."
Philip H. Anselmo (PANTERA, DOWN): "It's an explosive legacy. It's cemented. They kicked every ass that was in front of them."
Heidi Ellen Robinson-Fitzgerald (HERFitz PR): "I was part of VAN HALEN's PR team at Warner Bros. in the late '70s. I cried and I laughed out loud more than a few times while reading this book, recognizing occurrences I hadn't thought about in decades. The VAN HALEN I knew is on these pages, and Michael has painted a brilliant portrait of them."
Tony Iommi (BLACK SABBATH): "There's only one VAN HALEN, and they were really, really good."
William DuVall (ALICE IN CHAINS): "It was just such a steamroller, and those guys were doing that night after night no matter what condition they were in."

ABBA fans have been reacting to the news that the Swedish pop giants have returned with two new songs – both of which will feature on a new album – and a “revolutionary” concert experience.
Earlier this evening (September 2), the band announced ‘ABBA: Voyage’ – a full new album and their first new music in over 40 years which will be released on November 5 on Universal Music.
To accompany the news, ABBA – comprising Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus, Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid “Frida” Lyngstad – unveiled two new songs: ‘I Still Have The Faith In You’ and ‘Don’t Shut Me Down’.
They also shared details of a new concert experience that shares the same name as their upcoming ninth studio album – which will see a “digital” version of ABBA (not holograms) perform alongside a 10-piece live band at a purpose-built 3,000-capacity ABBA Arena at London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, at a run of shows from May 27, 2022.
Excited fans all around the world have been reacting to the news, which was delivered by Andersson and Ulvaeus during a live-streamed event filmed in London and hosted by Zoe Ball.
Drag queen singer-songwriter Trixie Mattel tweeted: “With ABBA VOYAGE, my unclockable Swedish accent will become America’s finest export.”
“Babe,….BABE….wake up. Babe wake up. new Abba album.” said musician and comedian Grace Spelman, while music producer and script supervisor Edward Russell shared a video of him and another fan listening to the band’s new song while crying tears of joy.

Elsewhere, some fans noted the similarity between ABBA’s neon avatar images and the costumes used in the movie Tron: Legacy – which was scored by Daft Punk.
“Since Daft Punk is no more, we need an ABBA scored Tron film,” one Twitter user wrote. Another shared a photograph of Jeff Bridges’ character Kevin Flynn, with the caption: “Björn is ready for tonight’s press conference.”
A third fan likened the avatar look to that of the Power Rangers. “The rangers that we’ve all been waiting for to save us,” they captioned a picture of the band in their full motion capture attire.
Other fans flooded Twitter to share their thoughts on the band’s comeback after 40 years. “There’s something special about hearing ABBA’s 2021 voices in a song it’s so surreal,” one person tweeted.
“Thank you ABBA for saving 2021,” another wrote.
One user tweeted: “abba has never lost their touch and my soul is liberated thank lord for their new music hallelujah amen praised be.”

Over a decade ago I wrote a book on #ABBA. I was so immersed in their music I couldn't listen to them for years afterwards. But tonight, with the release of their new material, I'm enjoying them all over again. #ABBAVoyage#ABBAisBackpic.twitter.com/omW9UQZZMi

Over the last seven days, TwitchTracker illustrates that Twitch’s concurrent viewer number has peaked around 4.5million, while on September 1 the peak was 3.5million, showcasing a significant drop-off. As of writing (September 2) the viewer count sits at around 3.5million, but it looks like it will continue to increase past yesterday’s peak.
Since early 2020 the number of average viewers on Twitch has been over 4million, showing that the #ADayOffTwitch protests have impacted the numbers.
Hate raids attack marginalised streamers with messages that spam their chats pertaining to transphobic and homophobic slurs, and sometimes even the streamers personal details.
So… y'all still fighting with me?
Let me see those hands. We are not done yet, babies. Not at all!
Originally the #TwitchDoBetter hashtag from streamer RekItRaven was used to highlight the problem, with Twitch then releasing a statement. Twitch said on Twitter that it was “able to identify a vulnerability in our proactive filters,” and that it had “rolled out an update to close this gap and better detect hate speech in chat,” adding that channel-level ban evasion and account verification would be coming later this year.
Many thought this wasn’t enough, though, so the #ADayOffTwitch protest was organised for September 1, hoping that Twitch would promise more decisive action. It was organised by Rekt It Raven, ShineyPen, and Lucia Everblack.
The protest demands aimed towards Twitch can be seen in the image above. Twitch has not issued a response to the protest on September 1 as of writing.
