Art Through The Ages, a Pokémon treasure hunt-style exhibition, will come to Manchester’s Trafford Centre on October 17, remaining in place until just before the release of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

The exhibition, which is a showcase of “unique” art from Pokémon’s Red and Blue era, the Kanto region, will take over the Trafford Centre until November 13. Fans of the series can expect to go on a treasure hunt, although further details are yet to be confirmed.

The art experience was first teased on the Pokémon UK Twitter account yesterday (September 25), which called upon Manchester trainers to visit the main dome area of the Trafford Centre to join a “community art project”, and get a first look at why Pokémon is coming to the northern city.

It also featured a sparse grid wall which had a select few tiles coloured in Pikachu’s yellow as well as landscape colours of blue, green and brown.

Today (September 26) the true reason for the series’ appearance in Manchester was revealed on the same Twitter account, outlining the dates and details behind the Pokémon: Art Through The Ages exhibition.

The exhibition coincidentally ends just a few days before the release of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, where the trainer enrols in a school which is hosting an independent study project. The theme of this assignment is “A Treasure Hunt!”

More details are likely to be revealed in the coming weeks, so eager trainers should keep an eye on the Pokémon UK Twitter account for further information.

In other gaming news, Mihoyo has confirmed that two new characters will arrive to Genshin Impact soon. While an exact release date is yet to be announced, it’s likely that both characters will arrive as part of patch 3.2, as patch 3.1’s banners have already been confirmed.

‘Destiny 2’ officially getting BattlEye anti-cheat after it leaked

Expect to hear more on August 24

The post ‘Destiny 2’ officially getting BattlEye anti-cheat after it leaked appeared first on NME.

Destiny 2 will be getting BattlEye anti-cheat for its player vs. player (PvP) modes, the official Twitter page for the game has confirmed, after it leaked earlier today (August 19).

Officially revealed in the tweet below, and endorsed by journalist at The Verge Tom Warren beforehand, BattlEye anti-cheat will be coming to the game.

The official Destiny 2 Twitter account said “our partnership with BattlEye will soft launch next Season. Just another step toward a level playing field for all,” with more information coming on August 24 at the Destiny 2 showcase.

According to the now removed page on the BattlEye website, the software was to be added alongside Destiny 2 update 3.2.0. “BattlEye will be included as Destiny 2’s anti-cheat protection. Bans are manually assessed and applied during the first few weeks. After the soft launch, the system will automatically apply locks,” part of the webpage screenshot reads.

Update 3.2.0 was added to the game back in May of this year, and no BattlEye anti-cheat had been added in that time. But now that there has been official confirmation, that doesn’t seem to matter.

In another tweet on the original leak, Warren said that “Bungie has been testing this internally for months, and the screenshot is legitimate.” In the thread Warren states “you can’t rollout crossplay without some extra protection” and that “Bungie has added a password to its support pages confirming BattlEye anti-cheat.”

The BattlEye anti-cheat software can be integrated into any game, and the website claims “the player simply will not notice that BattleEye is running in the background”. The system aims to either completely block hacking or detect it as it happens to allow for bans. The software is currently used in games like PUBG and Fortnite, among others.

In other news, players are comparing the trees in Pokemon Legends: Arceus to those in 15-year-old Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, for some reason.

The Monoprice 611705 delivers bright and room-filling sound

If you’re an electric guitarist, you’ll know tube amplifiers – versus solid-state and digital ones – are the holy grail of guitar amplification. Tube amps, though, can be prohibitively expensive, with many models going for many thousands of dollars. Except this Monoprice amp, which clocks in at only $148.10 on Amazon, down from $168.

The Monoprice 611705 is a five-watt all-tube combo amplifier, meaning all you need to start rocking out is a guitar and a lead. It’s equipped with the industry-standard 12AX7 tube in the preamp section and a 6V6GT tube in the power section, the latter of which drives a Celestion Super 8 GBA-15 speaker. Celestion is another household name among guitarists – esteemed brands like Marshall, Fender and Blackstar use this brand of speakers, too.

Despite its small size, the Monoprice amp, like many tube models, packs a wallop. So much so that the amp lets you swap between five watts (full power) and one watt of output – useful for both keeping volume levels sane and for pushing the amp into natural distortion. Controls-wise, Monoprice keeps things simple with two chickenhead knobs, one for volume and the other for tone. The latter lets you adjust the ‘sharpness’ or ‘definition’ of your guitar sound.

And you can’t slag off the Monoprice’s design, either. Its cream-coloured textured exterior – it’s made of synthetic leather – is all about vintage vibe, as is the amp jewel that lights up when the unit is switched on.

Additionally, while tube amps are notoriously heavy, this mighty little unit clocks in at just 500 grams, with dimensions of 30.8×30.9x21cm. That might just be our favourite feature.

STYX‘s Todd Sucherman was among the drummers who paid tribute to Neil Peart during the Modern Drummer Festival 2020, the twentieth annual edition of the festival. The pay-per-view event took place on September 12, produced and distributed by LiveXLive.

Sucherman‘s contribution to Modern Drummer Festival 2020 consisted of “13 For NP”, an original piece of music composed specifically for the event. He explained: “I tried my best to compose a piece that honored a man who always composed his parts, and it was an honor to be asked to participate in this tribute. As well, it was fun to compose this tribute to pay my respects. ’13 for NP’ is in 13/8 subdivided 2-2-3-3-3 or 2-2-3-2-2-2 or 2-2-2-2-2-3. Thanks to Modern Drummer Magazine, JR Taylor and Eric Dorris for audio & video, and to Neil.”

Video of Sucherman‘s “13 For NP” performance can be seen below.

In addition to Sucherman, the lineup for Modern Drummer Festival 2020 included Cindy Blackman-Santana, Chad Smith (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS), Taylor Hawkins (FOO FIGHTERS), Thomas Lang, Alex Gonzalez (MANÅ), Jim Riley (RASCAL FLATTS), Danny Seraphine, Dom Famularo, Carmine Appice, Keith Carlock, Kenny Aronoff, Gregg Bissonette (Ringo Starr), Ray Luzier (KORN) and Kristina Schiano. The festival also featured special appearances by Carl Palmer, Eric Singer (KISS), Mike Portnoy (SONS OF APOLLO), Eric Leiderman (“Late Night With Seth Meyers”), Les DeMerle, Brian Tichy, Jason Bittner (OVERKILL), Don Lombardi, Charlie Benante (ANTHRAX), Jonathan Moffett, Wyatt Stav and 66 Samus.

Peart died on January 7 in Santa Monica, California after a three-year battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. He was 67 years old.

RUSH announced Peart‘s passing on January 10, setting off shockwaves and an outpouring of grief from fans and musicians all over the world.

RUSH‘s final show took place at the Forum in Los Angeles on August 1, 2015. Peart indicated at the time that he wanted to retire while he was still able to play well, along with a desire to spend more time at home with his young daughter.

Peart joined RUSH in 1974. He was considered one of the best rock drummers of all time, alongside John Bonham of LED ZEPPELIN; Keith Moon of THE WHO; and Ginger Baker of CREAM. Peart was also RUSH‘s primary lyricist, drawing inspiration from everything from sci-fi to Ayn Rand.

Yves Tumor returns this spring with a new album called Heaven to a Tortured Mind. The follow-up to 2018’s Safe in the Hands of Love was teased earlier this month with “Gospel for a Century Mind”, a single whose sound was “best described as a Quentin Tarantino soundtrack moment.” A second preview comes today in the form of “Kerosene!”

This new song sees the experimental electronic artist teaming up with Diana Gordon, fka Wynter Gordon. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because the R&B/dance musician had a number of songwriting and producing credits on Beyonce’s 2016 opus Lemonade. Stream the collaborative “Kerosene!” below.

Heaven to a Tortured Mind arrives April 3rd through Warp Records. The record will be supported with a proper North American tour that begins next month. Grab your concert tickets here.
