This is the album Don Broco have been threatening to make for a while now.
Bigger, chunkier and catchier than ever before, ‘Technology’ combines the meaty riffs of their earlier days, the cool of ’80s-tinged previous effort ‘Automatic’ and the huge, almost infuriatingly catchy choruses of... well, past, present and in all likelihood, future Broco, to create a monster of a modern rock record.
‘Come Out To LA’ is the sunniest anthem about not really liking the music industry you’ll ever hear, all delivered in a scathing, uniquely British tone that just oozes Don Broco, while Rob Damiani’s everyman lyrics take on new meaning throughout the album as they tackle Brexit, racism and more.
Bring Me The Horizon collaborator Dan Lancaster’s footprint is here, too. ‘Got To Be You’ sounds like a more tuneful but no less menacing song from ‘That’s The Spirit’ - in the best possible way - and there are huge choruses aplenty, not least ‘Greatness’, where Rob bellows, “Give me fucking greatness, or give me nothing at all.”
Clocking in at just under an hour across 14 songs, about 12 of which could easily be singles, ‘Technology’ is engaging, fun and an early contender for album of the year, plus the album of this band’s career.
