George RR Martin Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones author George RR Martin is reportedly building a castle in his back garden.

According to MailOnline, Martin is planning on erecting a 24ft tower – when his plans for a 27ft one were told to be above regulations.

In paperwork obtained by the publication, the architect says: “The owners have an extensive literature collection and the Water Garden Keep is a new, custom library to house this collection.

“The owners have an interest in history, with a focus on medieval history.”

Martin and his wife are allegedly building the tower for “essential” purposes, in order to access a roof deck through a lift.

A local explained to MailOnline that the construction seemed to draw parallels with Game of Thrones. ‘”We thought it was Winterfell when we first saw the plans,” they said. “All it’s missing is Jon Snow and a couple of dragons.”

They added: “George has done a lot for the arts and he’s very welcome here. But there’s a code in Santa Fe and the buildings have a right to retain a certain historic look.

“If they allow something like this it will open up the floodgates to any rich eccentric that wants to live in a castle with a tower.”

Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams recently opened up about her career since the show’s ending, saying she has been struggling with rejection as she had spent 10 years of her career on the show.
