The Avalanches have teamed up with The International Space Orchestra (ISO) on a video for their recent Jamie xx and Neneh Cherry collaboration, ‘Wherever You Go’.

Filmed during lockdown, the clip begins with the Australian outfit connecting a Zoom call to a team of 40 scientists, astronauts and engineers from NASA and SETI, who play various instruments over the track from their respective homes.
The participants also mocked up makeshift space-inspired backdrops, with many creating props to present to the camera. You can watch the video below.
“We are forever grateful to Dr. Nelly Ben Hayoun and the International Space Orchestra for a truly magical, inspiring and connective experience,” The Avalanches said. “During a hard lockdown, it has renewed our faith in music, humanity and the power of connection, science and love.
“We have so much respect for all those at NASA and SETI institute and the work they do pushing the boundaries of human exploration, in trying to find the answers to the universe, and who and what lay beyond our neighbourhood.
Formed back in 2012, ISO is directed by SETI Institute Designer of Experiences Nelly Ben Hayoun-Stépanian along with musical director Evan Price. The group have previously performed alongside the likes of Damon Albarn, Beck, Sigur Rós and Savages.
Last month, The Avalanches revealed that they had finished recording their upcoming third album. “The Wildflower album was released worldwide 4 years ago today,” they wrote on Instagram, adding: “Coincidentally, we delivered our 3rd album for mastering late last night.”
Prior to ‘Wherever You Go’ and ‘Reflecting Light’, the band shared the Blood Orange-featuring ‘We Will Always Love You’ and ‘Running Red Lights’ alongside Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo and Pink Siifu.
