For the first time in its history, The Game Awards will feature live audio description for visually impaired gamers.
Host and event producer Geoff Keighley shared the news on Twitter this weekend, confirming that the official YouTube livestream will include an audio descriptive mode. He added: “Accessibility matters.”

As well as the audio description, Keighley also revealed there will be a new Dragon Age 4 trailer, and that the ceremony on December 10 will be broadcast in 4K.
The event features a star-studded line-up of presenters, including Tom Holland, who just wrapped filming for Uncharted, as well as Captain Marvel star Brie Larson, Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot, and the Swedish meatball chef from The Muppet Show.
On The Game Awards official website, gamers can vote across a number of categories, with votes set to close tonight (December 7).
The Last Of Us: Part II is currently leading the nominations, with 10 nominations in total. One of these is the coveted Game Of The Year award, where The Last Of Us: Part II is up against Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Doom Eternal, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Ghost Of Tsushima, and Hades.
The game has also received two nominations for Best Performance, with both Ashley Johnson and Laura Bailey in the running, for their roles as Ellie and Abby respectively.
Elsewhere, Twitch is removing the term “blind playthrough” from streams. The move comes after conversations with disabled gamers, and the streaming platform will now encourage players to use “first playthrough” or “no spoilers” instead.
