Reading & Leeds Festival has confirmed the first full wave of acts for its 2020 line-up, with Liam Gallagher, Rage Against The Machine and Stormzy headlining.

Gallagher was the first headliner to be confirmed after the former Oasis frontman announced his slot at the top of the bill back in November — much to the apparent dismay of festival organisers.

Last night (February 10), Rage Against The Machine were announced as the second of the three headliners of the August Bank Holiday weekend festival (August 28-30).

The rock icons, who have also shared details of a huge reunion world tour, will play Leeds on August 28 before closing Reading on August 30.

This morning (February 11), Reading and Leeds announced the first wave of acts for their 2020 festivals and confirmed Stormzy as their final headliner — check out the bill below.

The likes of Migos, Gerry Cinnamon, Courteeners, Sam Fender, AJ Tracey, Rex Orange Country and Mabel have also been added to the line-up, with more names expected soon.

Tickets for Reading and Leeds 2020 go on sale this Thursday (February 13) at 9am.

Reading & Leeds Festival 2019 was headlined by The 1975Post MaloneTwenty One Pilots and Foo Fighters — but one of its biggest moments happened on the Saturday afternoon when Billie Eilish may well have drawn one of the biggest ever crowds Reading Festival has ever seen.

Oscars viewers have expressed their disappointment after the late Luke Perry was left out of the In Memoriam montage during the prestigious ceremony.

In keeping with tradition, the ceremony paid its annual tribute to key figures from the film industry who have died in the 12 months.

Billie Eilish performed a cover of The Beatles’ Yesterday as the presentation played out, but Perry was noticeable in his absence after dying in March 2019.

The former Riverdale passed away after suffering a devastating stroke, with his family ultimately deciding to switch off his life support machine.

Perry’s absence was particularly notable because he had also starred in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, which was nominated for Best Picture.

One viewer wrote on Twitter: “Excluding Luke Perry from the Oscars in Memoriam was disrespectful. He appeared in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood which was nominated for Best Picture. Quentin Tarantino personally selected Luke to be in his movie so why not mention him?”

Another said: “To not feature Luke Perry, given his last role was in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is appalling.”

Others also noticed the absence of horror legend Sid Haig, who died last September, and Descendants star Cameron Boyce who died at the age of 20.

Meanwhile, the Oscars were dominated by history-making wins for Parasite –  which became the first foreign-language film to win Best Picture in Oscars history.

It also won the awards for Best Director (Bong Joon-ho), Best Foreign Language Film, Best Original Screenplay, Best Production Design and Best Film Editing.

Joaquin Phoenix won Best Actor for his titular role in Joker, while Renee Zellweger scooped the Best Actress prize for her turn as Judy Garland in Judy.

Snoop Dogg denies threatening Gayle King for discussing Kobe Bryant rape allegations

“I wouldn’t want harm coming to a 70-year-old woman. I was raised way better than that.”

Snoop Dogg has denied threatening US anchor Gayle King after telling her to “back off bitch, before we come get you” for mentioning rape allegations faced by the late Kobe Bryant.

The rapper said on Twitter that he is a “non-violent person” and claimed King was being “disrespectful” for bringing up the allegations after the NBA star’s death.

He wrote: “P. S. A. From the peoples champ now carry on and be nice to others KB8/24.”

He explained: “Here’s a message to the people that need to know. I’m a non-violent person. When I said what I said, I spoke for the people who felt like Gayle was very disrespectful towards Kobe Bryant and his family.

“Now with that being said, I wouldn’t want harm coming to a 70-year-old woman. I was raised way better than that. I didn’t want no harm to come to her, I didn’t threaten her. All I did was say, ‘Check it out, you’re outta pocket for what you’re doing and we’re watching you. Have a little more respect for Vanessa, her babies and Kobe Bryant’s legacy’.”

Snoop added: “Anyway, I’m gonna keep doing what I’m doing, y’all keep doing what you’re doing. We’re very non-violent, we just want to say that first and foremost we speak from the heart. Some of you have no hearts and won’t understand that.”

His clarification comes after he previously criticised Gayle for asking  WNBA star Lisa Leslie if she thought Kobe’s legacy was “complicated” by the 2003 sexual assault charge he previously faced.

“What do you gain from that? I swear to god, we the worst. We the fucking worst,” he said in the video.

“We expect more from you, Gayle. Why y’all attacking us? We your people! You ain’t come after fucking Harvey Weinstein, asking them dumb-ass questions. I get sick of y’all.”

It comes after 50 Cent also criticised Gayle King for asking Leslie about the rape allegations against Bryant.

Bryant was charged with felony sexual assault in 2003 after a 19-year-old woman accused him of raping her at a hotel in Colorado. The case was dismissed in 2004 after prosecutors said the woman didn’t want to testify in court.

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has said that plans for a big-screen adaptation of their seminal album ‘American Idiot’ have been “pretty much scrapped”.

The politically-charged 2004 album was responsible for reviving the US band’s career, and was later adapted into a Tony-winning musical which spawned productions across the globe.

It was initially reported in 2011 that Tom Hanks was interested in producing a big screen adaptation of the project, before the film was finally confirmed in 2013 and playwright Rolin Jones revealed he was ‘finishing up’ the script in 2014.

But after spending years in development hell, Armstrong told NME that the project has been placed firmly on ice.

It comes after Armstrong previously said that HBO had finally given the go-ahead to the long-gestating project.

“We’ve got a green light from HBO, and the script is currently going through a couple of rewrites here and there, so I’m not sure when exactly we’re going to start shooting, but it’s definitely all systems go at the moment,” he told NME in 2016.

The punk icon was speaking for this week’s Big Read and also revealed that Donald Trump attended the musical’s opening night in New York.

Explaining his unlikely attendance, Armstrong said: “At the beginning of ‘American Idiot’ there’s a montage of all this pop culture garbage, one being ‘American Idol’, and another was him saying: ‘You’re fired!’,” he says.

“So that’s the reason he came, because he’d heard that his face was going to be on the screen. He’s a sociopath, you know?”

Last month, Armstrong also revealed that he wants the band to re-record their sixth album, ‘Warning’.

Spike Lee paid tribute to the late Kobe Bryant at the Oscars last night by wearing a purple suit.

The seminal director, a diehard NBA fan, wore a purple suit with yellow trimming – the colours of Bryant’s Los Angeles Lakers, as he attended the prestigious ceremony.

Confirming the nod to the late basketball star, the BlackKklansman director told MailOnline: “It’s for Kobe and it’s my way of paying tribute.”

As well as adopting the colours of the Lakers, Lee completed the look by featuring Bryant’s jersey number, 24, on his jacket lapel and the back of the jacket, and wearing a pair of his signature Nike shoes.

Bryant, who was killed in a helicopter crash last month alongside his daughter, Gianna, and seven others, had previously collaborated with Lee on Kobe Doin’ Work, a 2009 documentary that detailed the NBA icon’s preparations for a crunch game against the San Antonio Spurs in the 2007-2008 season.

He said of Bryant’s impact on Los Angeles: “I just got here this morning and I see on the bus, everywhere, you can’t miss it.

“LA, the world, but especially LA, he grew up here, came in when he was 17 years old, and again, all of us human beings, and I include myself, we take for granted this great gift we have of being alive.”

Drillminister tells NME why he’s running for Mayor of London: “I’m here to shake up politics”

Rapper Drillminister has told NME that he’s running for Mayor of London to provide a voice that will represent everyone in the capital.

The South London musician is vying to secure the top job in City Hall, amid stiff competition from the likes of incumbent Mayor Sadiq Khan, Conservative candidate Shaun Bailey, former Tory MP Rory Stewart and Liberal Democrat hopeful Siobhan Benita.

But despite never stepping into politics before, the rapper insists that he’s far more representative of Londoners than his rivals ahead of the crunch vote in May.

“Nobody in this race is a realer Londoner than me,” he told NME.

“So I don’t see how as a Londoner, when it gets to the crunch, unless you’re worried about policy or making things continue as they are, why you wouldn’t vote for me. They’re not realistic candidates because they have political agendas. I haven’t got one.”

He has also promised to unveil a pioneering manifesto and says it will provide sweeping changes to the ways that transport, homelessness and mental health are tackled within the capital.

When it comes to homelessness, he says he will look into reclaiming abandoned buildings, as well as introducing a contactless card that will allow homeless Londoners to secure key resources.

“I wanna look at abandoned buildings and government buildings that haven’t been claimed for a long time, renovating them into charities and safe spaces for minority groups, and people that are under threat, whether that’s LGBTQ backgrounds or people that don’t feel safe in their area. If you’re from an ethnic minority, or wearing a hijab and feeling under threat, you can go there and feel safe,” he said.

He also claimed that introducing a contactless card for homeless people will encourage further donations from the public.

“There’s a lot of people not wanting to give money to people in vulnerable situations. To enable people to have that safety in their own heart, and to know they’re doing a good deed, we’ll have a card where people can use it to get essential goods – whether that’s toilet paper, sanitary towels, food and drink.

“Just standard things that a bank card can do, and that will allow them to manoeuvre around the city.”

But if he emerges triumphant in May, will we finally see the man behind the recognisable gold glasses and balaclava? Don’t count on it.

“That’s not what the people want! The people don’t want the politics they saw in 2018 and 2019, they want Donald Trump politics. The biggest reality celebrity becomes the leading politician in the world. Right now, we need England to revolutionise politics. It has to have a shake-up, and I’m just here to give it a shake-up.”

Liam Gallagher‘s son and Ringo Starr‘s grandson have denied affray after they were accused of sparking a fight in a Tesco.

Gene Gallagher and Sonny Starkey, both 18, and their model friend, Noah Ponte, have pled not guilty to the alleged late night fight in a branch of Tesco Express in Hampstead, North London.

Both Gallagher and Starkey were described as “windmilling” down the aisle when a  shopkeeper trying to stop them leaving the store, Highbury Corner Magistrates Court heard.

Ponte is alleged to have racially abused Tesco worker Shium Patel after he was prevented from buying a can of beer at midnight as it was after the store’s 11pm cut-off for purchasing alcohol.

All three men are charged with affray and using or threatening unlawful violence towards another, while Ponte has also denied a charge of racially aggravated common assault.

He allegedly told Mr Patel: “You bloody Indians. Go back to where you came from. You’re not wanted here.”

Starkey was supported in court by his father, drummer Jason Starkey, while Gallagher attended with his uncle – The Prodigy’s Liam Howlett.

The trio only spoke to give their addresses, dates of birth and to confirm that their nationality is English.

All three chose for the case to be sent to trial at Wood Green Crown Court and were released on unconditional bail until a hearing on March 9.

Rolling Stones legend Keith Richards has revealed he has finally stopped smoking, a year after he said ditching nicotine was “harder than quitting heroin.”

In a new interview with Q104.3 New York’s Jim Kerr, Richards confirmed that he has not touched a cigarette since October last year.

Richards replied “Done that, been there”, when asked about his decision to quit smoking.

“I think both Mick [Jagger] and I felt that on the last tour we were just getting going,” Richards said.

“[We]’ve got to continue this.”

The latest health kick comes after he first revealed plans to quit cigarettes in 2019.

“Quitting heroin is like hell, but it’s a short hell. Cigarettes are just always there, and you’ve always done it. I just pick ’em up and light ’em up without thinking about it,” Keef told Mojo.

“Lately, in fact – spread the news – I’ve managed to cut it down by a substantial amount every day.

“I’ve knocked the hard stuff on the head. I have a little wine with meals, and a Guinness or a beer or two.”

He’ll head back out on the road later this year, as the Rolling Stones prepare to embark on a North American tour for summer 2020.

They previously toured the US in 2019, but were forced to reschedule a string of dates after frontman Mick Jagger underwent heart surgery.

Kesha defamed Dr Luke by claiming he raped Katy Perry, judge rules

She made the claims in a text to Lady Gaga

A judge at New York’s Supreme Court has ruled that Kesha defamed Dr.Luke after she sent a text to Lady Gaga, claiming he raped Katy Perry.

The 32-year-old singer was ordered to pay the producer, real name Lukasz Gottwald, $374,000 in late royalty fees on Thursday (February 7).

It marks the latest development in their ongoing legal feud, which began when Kesha initially sued Gottwald in 2014 and claimed he had sexually assaulted and emotionally abused her.

Gottwald then subsequently filed his own suit against the singer in 2017, alleging that she had breached their contract and made up false rape allegations in an effort to get out of the deal.

Kesha also accused Gottwald of sexually assaulting both her and Katy Perry, an allegation which Perry subsequently denied in a deposition.

Katy Perry

In her ruling, New York Judge Jennifer G. Schecter said that Perry’s testimony, and a lack of evidence led to the conclusion that Kesha had defamed Dr Luke.

Judge Schechter said: “Perry unequivocally testified that Gottwald did not [rape her]. In response, Kesha has not raised a triable issue. There is no evidence whatsoever that Gottwald raped Katy Perry, or that Katy Perry, whose sworn testimony is unrefuted, must not be believed.”

But Schecter stressed that the ruling did not provide a definitive answer to whether Gottwald had sexually assaulted Kesha, which will be determined by a jury in a separate trial.

Kesha has now been ordered by the judge to pay some $374,000 in royalties to Gottwald’s company KMI.

Responding to the ruling in a statement, Dr Luke’s lawyer Christine Lepera said: ” Kesha abandoned her meritless case against Dr. Luke more than three years ago. The only remaining lawsuit is Dr. Luke’s case against Kesha for defamation and breach of contract. Dr. Luke is pursuing this lawsuit to seek recovery for the serious harm Kesha’s false accusations of rape have caused Dr. Luke, his family and his business.

“Today’s important decision by the Court in Dr. Luke’s lawsuit brings him closer to the justice that he seeks. First, the Court has now ruled that Kesha made a false and defamatory accusation about Dr. Luke when she baselessly claimed that he raped Katy Perry.
“Second, the Court rejected Kesha’s attempts to invoke legal technicalities to avoid responsibility for her statements.  And third, the Court also correctly held that Kesha breached her contract with Dr. Luke’s company.
“Dr. Luke looks forward to the trial of his case where he will prove that Kesha’s other false statements about him were equally false and defamatory.”

Justin Bieber has teamed up with Migos‘ Quavo on new track ‘Intentions’.

The song is the latest track to be taken from Bieber’s upcoming fifth album ‘Changes‘, and comes accompanied by a heartwarming video that sees the pair providing support for vulnerable women and children in Los Angeles.

The clip, a collaboration with LA nonprofit organisation Alexandria House, tells the story of several women who are working for the organisation and providing support for others as they battle the threat of homelessness and the struggle to find stability for their families.

Each volunteer tell their own individual stories, before Bieber and Quavo are seen hanging out with Alexandra House families as they move “from emergency shelter to economic stability and permanent housing”.

In addition to the video, Bieber has also launched a $200,000 Intentions fund to support families at Alexandria House.

It’s the latest single to arrive from the record, following on from ‘Yummy‘ and ‘Get Me’, a soulful duet with Kehlani.

Yesterday, Bieber announced that he will celebrate the release of ‘Changes’ by playing a small show at the Indigo at The O2 in London on February 11. The exclusive fan event has been billed as “an evening with Justin featuring acoustic song performances and Q&A”.

Earlier this week, Bieber spoke about his previous battles with drug addiction in a revealing new interview.
