Kraftwerk have announced a North American tour to celebrate their 50th anniversary. The electro pioneers will bring their beloved 3D visuals, music, and performance art on the road to play a career-spanning set this summer.

When it comes to having a noteworthy career, Kraftwerk have too many accomplishments to list. Since forming in 1970, the group of friends merged machines with man to help popularize electronic music as we know it, released 10 studio albums, charted on mainstream radio worldwide, and redefined our expectations for technology within music. They’ve since been nominated for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame not once, but twice, among countless other awards.

Here’s hoping this anniversary tour is similar to the magic caught on 3-D The Catalogue, their Grammy-winning live album. Come to think of it, it’s hard to imagine Kraftwerk playing music that isn’t profoundly cool. After all, they’re the band that performed live from the International Space Station with a little help from a German astronaut.

Kraftwerk’s upcoming tour begins in Seattle, Washington on June 19th and wraps up in Boston, Massachusetts on July 31st. Along the way, they’ll play in major cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Austin, New Orleans, Miami, Atlanta, New York City, Chicago, Nashville, Toronto, and more. Find the full schedule below and get tickets here.

Kraftwerk will also be stopping along the route to perform at music festivals like Osheaga and All Points East. You can grab tickets to all of their upcoming concerts here.

Scooby-Doo Is Going on Tour With Björk’s Costume Designer

Scooby-Doo is going on tour, and he’s ready to put on one hell of a show. While the beloved great dane will be wearing his usual teal collar, he’s tapping Edda Gudmundsdottir, Björk’s costume designer, to outfit his pals for the event, as BrooklynVegan points out.

The upcoming tour, dubbed “Scooby-Doo! and The Lost City of Gold”, will see the gang singing and dancing alongside music, puppetry, magic, aerial arts, video mapping, and interactive audience response video. Apparently it follows Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, Daphne, Fred, and Velma as they drive the Mystery Machine to Alta Luz, “a fictitious South American town where ghostly sightings of La Dama de Oro (The Lady In Gold) threaten to scare attendees away from the annual music festival and Incan sun god celebration.” Jinkies!

According to the event’s website, Edda Gudmundsdottir is the tour’s official costume designer. Gudmundsdottir and Björk grew up together in Reykjavik and quickly became friends, with Gudmundsdottir going on to style Björk for numerous tours and events over the years. Her resume also includes past clients like Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Maroon 5, and Imagine Dragons. In a behind-the-scenes video, the outfits appear to be influenced by traditional Incan designs, Scooby-Doo’s original look, and some very colorful sea creatures.

“Scooby-Doo! and the Lost City of Gold” kicks off in Halifax, Nova Scotia on March 19th and stays on the road for quite a long time before concluding the adventure in Jacksonville, Florida on June 28th. In between, the gang will stop frequently throughout North America, including in major cities like Milwaukee, Austin, New York City, New Orleans, Nashville, and Orlando.

Will Björk turn up at the New York City date to see her pal’s work? Who’s to say. If Björk does decide to go, there’s a good chance she will crash at Sister City, the boutique hotel she composed AI-influenced lobby music for recently.

Tickets for “Scooby-Doo! and the Lost City of Gold” are on sale now. So grab your magnifying glass, pack some Scooby Snacks, and purchase tickets to any of the shows here.

K-pop group Monsta X stopped by The TODAY Show on Thursday for a live performance of “You Can’t Hold My Heart”, a moving ballad from their brand new album All About Luv.

Monsta X began their performance by greeting a crowd of screaming fans. Once the first notes of “You Can’t Hold My Heart” played through overhead speakers, each member stepped up to an individual microphone to sing their opening lines. What began as an intimate rendition quickly upped its intensity with Monsta X singing the song with increasing passion, eventually building to a fadeout that left the crowd stunned. Watch a replay of it below.

All About Luv is the first album Monsta X have made entirely in the English language. In addition to “You Can’t Hold My Heart”, it also features previously released singles “Love U”, “Someone’s Someone”, “Middle of the Night”, and “Who Do U Love?” featuring French Montana.

This summer, Monsta X are heading out on a North American tour. The K-pop group will be performing in 17 different cities total, including a few locations that most arena-size bands skip — which explains why it’s one of the most anticipated tours of 2020. Grab tickets to all of their upcoming concerts here.

Consequence of Sound

On the heels of her new album, Jay Som is back with two brand new songs, “A Thousand Words” and “Can’t Sleep”. Fans can expect to hear these tracks live very soon, as Jay Som is in the midst of an extensive tour that continues into summer.

Both “A Thousand Words” and “Can’t Sleep” come from the recording sessions that produced Anak Ko, her most recent record and one of the best albums of 2019. The previously unreleased tracks will be available as a physical 7-inch single on May 1st — pre-orders are currently ongoing — but can be streamed early as a treat.

Musically, “A Thousand Words” almost sounds like Jay Som’s take on surf rock. With a lackadaisacle but heady riff, Melina Duterte swims through a sunny melody and lets the guitar waves crash into a flitting synth jingle in the chorus. Fittingly, “Can’t Sleep” takes a different approach, turning up the fuzz for a muted-yet-chaotic pop number that sounds like a warped Tegan and Sara track. Stream both songs below.

In a press release, Jay Som explained the origin stories for both songs. “Apparently A Thousand Words” came about after a year of touring and taking influence from Bruce Springsteen, Elliott Smith, Pavement, and the Supergrass song “Alright”. “I forced myself to make a sort of big and jovial song to bring me out of the funk I was in,” she said. “I also wanted to remind myself that music can be fun!”

Meanwhile, “Can’t Sleep” was written in the fall of 2017 while Duterte was living at home with her parents between tours. “I think I had all my gear packed away somewhere that I couldn’t access, so I used instruments left over in my childhood room: a broken acoustic guitar, chopsticks on a snare drum, a bad hi hat, and my trumpet,” she said. “Everything was recorded through the laptop mic. I was pretty frustrated with the California heat and the fact that I couldn’t record properly, so this sort of fever dream song was born.”

Catch these songs live when Jay Som plays near you on her current tour. She’s on the road in Australia, Europe, and North America to perform both headlining gigs and opening sets for Sharon Van Etten, Julien Baker, and Lazy Day. Louis C.K. Announces Stand-Up Comedy Tour

Louis C.K. Announces Stand-Up Comedy Tour
Nina Corcoran

Consequence of Sound

Defamed edgelord Louis C.K. is trying to revive his comedy career despite confirming the five accusations of sexual misconduct made against him. His recent sets see him making ill-advised rape jokes and mocking Parkland survivors. Luckily for people who are into lazy humor, Louis C.K. is bringing his blind entitlement on the road in what he’s mislabeling as a “stand-up comedy tour”.

The tour dates stretch from tonight in Denver, Colorado on through to May 23nd in Copenhagen, Denmark. Along the way, he will take the stage live in major cities like Phoenix, Philadelphia, New Brunswick, Knoxville, Syracuse, Boston, and Berlin. Find his entire schedule below.

While his victims suffered trauma for years after his actions, Louis C.K. considers himself the victim of his own constant masturbation because the fallout of such cause him to “[lose] $35 million in an hour.” Weird he would go back to the comedy community for money instead of, I don’t know, getting a different job. But then again, Louis C.K. is convinced that there’s still people who want to hear him, particularly the “black people” who “stuck by him” because they get it.

On his website, Louis C.K. summarized what this tour is all about in rather minimal terms. “I am on the road doing professional stand-up comedy,” he wrote. “Which consists of sharing jokes, stories, observations, lies, non-lies, and being generally ridiculous for the benefit of a laughing audience.”

Louis C.K. has also noted that his “full site” will be back before the end of the year. “You will be able to buy and download all of my shows like before, along with a few new things,” he wrote. In other words, he can profit off his bad ideas once again, and viewers can revisit the tasteless things he’s said under the guise of comedy. Though if you want to hear sophomoric edgy jokes and other vaguely familiar drivel, there’s always free websites run by his peers like the tweens at 4chan.

If you’re still dying to hear cliched cracks at gender-neutral pronouns and incredibly tasteless Auschwitz jokes by a guy who issued a copyright notice to protect his profoundly unoriginal “jokes”, then you can grab tickets to his upcoming tour dates here.

Rick and Morty fans caused chaos when McDonalds started carrying the show’s beloved Szechuan sauce. Now there’s a new fast-food chain that’s welcoming hungry fans of the series. Starting today, Krispy Kreme will sell Rick and Morty donuts and a special themed milkshake to go with them.

In total, there’s three different donuts inspired by the Adult Swim show: Pickle Rick, a lemon-filled donut topped with a white chocolate pickle; Simple Rick’s Wafer Cookie, a strawberry truffle donut filled with vanilla creme and topped with a crushed wafer; and Strawberry Smiggles, a strawberry-filled glazed donut dipped in white chocolate truffle and topped with mini marshmallows, crushed meringue, and big sprinkles.

There’s also Fleeb Juice, a milkshake made by combining Krispy Kreme’s raspberry and “blue heaven” flavors. It sounds equal parts tart and sweet which can be a hit or miss combination for some people, but that certainly won’t stop fans from buying it.

The beloved confectionary chain created these to celebrate season 4 of Rick and Morty. It seems like Krispy Kreme wanted to torment fans in addition to treating them, though, because these are only available in Australia. You read that correctly. So expect more Rick and Morty-themed foods to sell online for $15,000 pretty soon.

Below, get a sneak peek at what each Rick and Morty-themed donut will look like even though you (probably) can’t get them.

Ahead of the song’s release, The Avalanches revealed its title using Morse Code on the top of the Capitol Tower in Los Angeles. As they explain in a statement, “Sometimes we receive a message. Telling us our music has been there; through dark times, loneliness, loss. There are no words to express how moving or profound this connection with you is. Because the music was born out of such moments itself, and so it is felt, by those with open hearts, on the same wavelength it was first created. Morse Code beamed and received by hearts and hearts alike.”

They continued: “Our new record is about such journeys, from darkness to light. About life after (all kinds of) death. About the transcendent nature of music itself. Every voice ever played on the radio over the last 100 years now exists in the stars; the transmissions of these singers are forever floating around out there, lost in the cosmos, endless travelling. Tonight Smokey Robinson duets with Dev Hynes and The Roches. Those spirits are out there. We are each a tune, floating in space. And this one’s for you.”

As mentioned by The Avalanches, in addition to featuring vocals from Hynes, “We Will Always Love You” is built off samples of “I’ll Take You Anywhere That You Come” by Smokey Robinson & the Miracles, and The Roches’ “Hammond Song”.

It feels like a dream getting a record from The Avalanches so soon, even though we don’t actually know when their next album is coming out. They’re notoriously slow when it comes to making music — they released their debut full-length, Since I Left You, in 2000 and followed it up with Wildflowers in 2016 — which makes a four year wait feel like mere seconds by comparison. What we do know is that their third LP was being mixed a couple months ago and also promises guest contributions from JPEGMAFIA, Cornelius, Jennifer Herrema of Royal Trux, and many more.

Recently, The Avalanches confirmed their first live appearance of 2010, a festival gig at Best Kept Secret Festival in The Netherlands. Presumambly, future information on the new album and additional tour dates are on the way.

Most celebrities’ kids coast on their parents’ income for as long as possible, but Steven Spielberg‘s adopted daughter Mikaela isn’t comfortable doing that. In a new interview, Mikaela Spielberg revealed that she works in the adult entertainment world as a porn producer and hopes to become a licensed sex worker soon, too.

She broke the news of her career choice in a lengthy interview with The SunIn the article, Mikaela explained that she wanted to be able to support herself and to feel comfortable with her body. “This isn’t like an ‘end of the road’ or ‘I’ve hit bottom’ choice. This is a positive, empowering choice,” she said. “I realized there is no shame in having a fascination with this industry and wanting to do something that is safe, sane, and consensual.”

Mikaela, who’s 23 years old, chose the moniker Sugar Star for her adult entertainment career and has been steadily self-producing videos on PornHub since then. She decided to take the videos offline temporarily while waiting for her Tennessee sex worker license to be approved, even though it’s legal to create porn in the state, to make sure she keeps everything “legitimate and above board.” Once approved, she plans to continue strictly doing solo work out of respect for her fiancé, Chuck Pankow, who supports her career choice.

What does her family think of this? Well, Mikaela was nervous to tell them about it, even though Spielberg has always been very supportive of her since adopting her as a baby. Ultimately, her parents were “intrigued but not upset” by their daughter. “My safety has always been a number one priority for them,” Mikaela said. “I actually think that once they see how far I’ve come from the bottom I was at a year and a half ago, they’re going to look at this and go, ‘Wow, we actually raised are really self-assured, young lady.”

“The bottom” was the period in her life where she was “groomed and abused by predators” growing up — none of which were within her family’s circle of friends. Considering that, it makes sense that a career of pleasure, control, and consent would help Mikaela come to terms with her past trauma. It’s clear she’s happy with this new career so far, and seeing her parents recognize and accept that choice is a great step forward for all.

“We still have this idea of what women can and cannot be — that this is such a de-legitimized form of work even though it’s legal to be an adult actor and make and write erotica privately,” Mikaela said. “I feel like [by] doing this kind of work I’m able to ‘satisfy’ other people, but that feels good because it’s not in a way that makes me feel violated.”

Who knows — maybe PornHub director Bella Thorne can cast her in project soon!
