Justin Bieber has discussed his recent diagnosis with Lyme Disease.

Speaking in the latest episode of his YouTube docuseries Seasons, the singer opened up about the “super silent” disease, and his feelings upon receiving the diagnosis.

Bieber revealed that he’d been diagnosed with the disease at the start of January, saying that it’s “been a rough couple years”.

Now, in new Seasons episode The Dark Season, Bieber speaks to the camera from a doctor’s office, discussing his ill health prior to being diagnosed with the bacterial infection.

“I’ve been struggling with my energy for quite some time now and I just haven’t known why,” he says in the new show. “I’ve realised after a series of tests I have what’s called Lyme disease which is a super silent disease that’s not very well known. It’s very hard for doctors to test for it.”

He continued: “Basically, infections have played a big part in my acne and in overall toxins in my body, which creates all this stuff so it feels good now to know why I feel so crappy all the time.

“Honestly, I’m committed to getting better,” the singer states. “I’m committed to doing whatever I have to do, whether it’s inconvenient or not, because I know ultimately it’s not only for me, but being the best me is gonna help me be the best husband, the best father, the best friend that I can possibly be.

“And, for all the fans that want to enjoy the music that I make. I can’t do it if I’m not healthy – and I haven’t been healthy for a long time.”

In the wake of his Lyme diagnosis, Bieber also opened up about his previous addiction battle earlier this month. “I was, like, dying,” the star said. “People don’t know how serious it got It was legit, crazy scary.”

Bieber releases his fifth album ‘Changes’ on Friday (February 14), the follow-up to 2015’s ‘Purpose’.

The Strokes look to be teasing new material on their social media accounts.

Tonight (February 7), the band have shared a new video on their Twitter and Instagram, along with the caption ‘The New Abnormal’, which looks like it could be the title to a new song or album.

Guitarist Albert Hammond Jr has added more info in a post on his own Instagram, sharing the same video and writing: “You think you’ve been waiting⁣, but the wait has just begun…⁣⁣ Welcome to 𝐭 𝐡 𝐞 𝐧 𝐞 𝐰 𝐚 𝐛 𝐧 𝐨 𝐫 𝐦 𝐚 𝐥⁣.” The post concludes with the caption #thestrokes2020.

The band recently played a New Year’s Eve show at the Barclay’s Centre in Brooklyn, at which Julian Casablancas confirmed that the band will release a new album in 2020.

After asking the 19,000 strong crowd if they’d like to hear a new song, Casablancas said: “Yeah, we have a new album coming out soon. Surprise. 2020 here we come.

“We took the 2010’s – whatever the fuck they’re called – we took ’em off but now we’ve been unfrozen and we’re back.”

The band played new song ‘Ode To The Mets’ at the show, while the band also debuted another new song, ‘The Adults Are Talking’, last summer. It follows months of speculation that The Strokes are finishing up their long-awaited new album, which lead guitarist Nick Valensi said had been complete back in September.

The New York indie outfit’s last album ‘Comedown Machine’ was released back in 2013, which was followed by the 2016 ‘Future Present Past’ EP.

This week, The Strokes have announced a string of last-minute gigs in Berlin, Paris and Belfast and three headline festival sets in Scandinavia.

The Strokes will also perform at a Bernie Sanders rally next week (February 10) in support of the Democratic presidential hopeful.

Jay Electronica says his long-awaited debut album will finally be coming out next month.

The debut full-length from Jay-Z‘s protege has been promised for a decade now, and it seems that it’s finally finished and ready to be released.

“Album done,” the New Orleans-based rapper simply tweeted today (February 7), before revealing a distinctly biblical set of specifics about the album’s recording process and release schedule.

The album, which looks like it will be called ‘A Written Testimony’, was, as following tweets reveal, “recorded over 40 days and 40 nights, starting from December 26th,” and will be released in “40 days,” plotting a March 18th release date.

He also tweeted about his “debut album featuring Hov,” virtually confirming a Jay-Z feature on the record.

A debut record from Jay Electronica has been expected ever since he emerged with 2007 mixtape ‘Act I: Eternal Sunshine (The Pledge)’, and has been promised since he signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation in 2010.

Back in 2013, it seemed to be revealed that the rapper’s debut album was “in the last stages of recording,” but that particular iteration of the much-hyped debut never materialised.

The previous year, it was revealed that Kanye West, Jay-Z, Diddy, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Erykah Badu were all set to appear on the debut album, then thought to be titled ‘Act II: Patents Of Nobility (The Turn)’. The album was given a firm release date of September 2012 but then never arrived.

Last year, Jay Electronica hinted to fans on Instagram that he might be releasing a joint project with Jay-Z in the future.

It’s not clear yet whether the album in question is the forthcoming debut, or whether another project may be on the horizon.

The production of vinyl records worldwide is said to be under threat after a severe fire at a manufacturing plant in California.

As The Desert Sun reports, a fire broke out on Thursday (February 6) at the Apollo Masters plant in Banning, California. The plant supplies the lacquer used to make vinyl records.

Speaking of the incident on their website, Apollo Masters say: “It is with great sadness we report the Apollo Masters manufacturing and storage facility had a devastating fire and suffered catastrophic damage. The best news is all of our employees are safe.

“We are uncertain of our future at this point and are evaluating options as we try to work through this difficult time. Thank you for all of the support over the years and the notes of encouragement and support we have received from you all.”

Ben Blackwell, the founder of Nashville’s Third Man Records, told of his worry at the knock-on effect the fire will cause to Pitchfork, saying: “From my understanding, this fire will present a problem for the vinyl industry worldwide.

“There are only TWO companies that make lacquers in the world, and the other, MDC in Japan, already had trouble keeping up with demand BEFORE this development.”

He continued: “I imagine this will affect EVERYONE, not just Third Man Pressing and Third Man Mastering, but to what extent remains to be seen. I don’t want to be an alarmist. But I’m attempting to be realistic as opposed to Pollyannish.”

Toronto-based pressing plant Duplication also shared their worries after the incident, calling it a “disaster for the vinyl pressing industry,” adding that there will be an incoming “lacquer shortage” and hinted that plants may have to “close or scale back operations for a while”.

Last year, the true extent of a 2008 fire at the Universal Studios in Hollywood was revealed, with unheard tracks from NirvanaR.E.MSoundgardenBeckJanet JacksonEminemNine Inch Nails and many more wiped out in the blaze.

Hamilton Leithauser, frontman of The Walkmen, has shared his first new solo music since 2017.

New song ‘Here They Come’ comes complete with a new skit video that sees Leithauser being beaten up by Oscar-nominated actor Ethan Hawke – watch it below.

Speaking of the meaning behind the song in a statement, Leithauser says: “‘Here They Come’ is about a friend who tends to run from his problems. When the going gets tough, he tends to just cut and run.

“The song is about the specific moment when the lights are coming up in a movie theatre where he’s been hiding out all day, and life’s complications are just coming back into focus.”

Alongside the new skit, a lyric video for ‘Here They Come’ has also been shared today, which you can watch below.

‘Here They Come’ is Leithauser’s first new music since he shared ‘Heartstruck (Wild Hunger)’, a collaboration with Angel Olsen, in 2017.

The previous year, Leithauser released ‘I Had A Dream That You Were Mine’, a collaborative album with former Vampire Weekend member Rostam.

In a four-star review of ‘I Had A Dream That You Were Mine’, NME’s Greg Cochrane called the album “two kings of the indie dancefloor uniting for a warm, timeless take on 20th century pop and rock.”

The review continues: “It may tail off towards the close, but genuine warmth emanates throughout. A partnership that’s charged with ideas, this feels like a collaboration that’s only just getting going.”

Late last year, the Walkmen frontman teamed up with Lana Del Rey on stage in Nashville, covering Bob Dylan’s ‘Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right’.

Sean Paul and Tove Lo have teamed up on a euphoric new collaborative single called ‘Calling On Me’.

The new song follows two new songs that Tove Lo shared last month, produced by Billie Eilish’s brother and producer FINNEAS.

‘Bikini Porn’ and ‘Passion And Pain Taste The Same When I’m Weak’ followed her fourth album ‘Sunshine Kitty’, which arrived last September.

In a statement announcing the song, Sean Paul said: “‘Calling On Me’ is a dope song reflecting the real side of love.

“If you love someone, the energy doesn’t ever change. They are able to call on you at all times. I’m proud to have such an amazing vocalist like Tove Lo be on the track with me.” Watch the visualiser for the song below.

Tove Lo released ‘Sunshine Kitty’ last year, an album NME called “glittering” with “expertly crafted pop and bold new sounds” in a four-star review.

“The Swedish star, who made her name with her suggestive lyrics, thrills with a fourth album that features Kylie Minogue and host of killer hooks,” Hannah Mylrea added.

Ahead of the release of the album, Tove Lo played a tiny London gig at the Shacklewell Arms as part of NME’s Girls To The Front series.

Last week, Tove Lo shared an intense new video for ‘Sunshine Kitty’ track ‘Are U Gonna Tell Her?’.

Green Day have shared a new video for their track ‘Meet Me On The Roof’, featuring Stranger Things star Gaten Matarazzo – watch it below.

The new video, which arrives on the day the band release their new album ‘Father Of All…’, is a leather-clad, motorbike-filled white knuckle ride.

In the video, Matarazzo idolises motorbike stuntman Willie Jackson (played by Billie Joe Armstrong), before eventually meeting him at the video’s conclusion – watch it below.

‘Father Of All…’ is Green Day’s 13th album. In a four-star review of the record, NME’s Andrew Trendell writes: “The political punks – shock horror! – eschew the politics and have a good old knees-up.”

“Green Day have been bold and brazen and free of pretence. Their intent is laid bare when comparing two of the band’s record sleeves: ‘American Idiot’ was a heart like a hand grenade, ‘Father Of All’ is a unicorn puking a rainbow. Don’t try to make sense of it. Just enjoy.”

NME spoke to Green Day at their Oakland, California rehearsal space for today’s (February 7) Big Read, discussing all things ‘Father Of All…’, inspiring Billie Eilish, the idea of meeting Donald Trump at one of their shows and more.

“We all have a real deep desire to leave this music on this planet because it’s gonna be around a lot longer than us,” bassist Mike Dirnt told NME. “It’s timeless. That’s meant something to me for so fucking long. This is the biggest thing I’ll ever do – that’s just a fact.”

The band are set to head out on the Hella Mega Tour with Weezer and Fall Out Boy this year – this week, the bands added Australian and New Zealand dates to the ever-expanding run.

Justin Timberlake and Meek Mill have teamed up for a new single. Watch the video for ‘Believe’ below.

During the clip for the new track, the pair pay tribute to the late Nipsey Hussle on a song that’s full of inspiring lyrical mantras.

The new video, directed by Maxime Quoilin, sees Timberlake and Mill appearing alongside a number of characters, and at one point, Mill holds up a piece of jewellery with Hussle’s face emblazoned on it. Watch it below.

Before the song was released, Mill teased the collaboration, saying that it was “for motivational purposes only,” and the lyrics of the song back this up.

Follow your dreams not your addiction / How we gon’ follow our dreams locked in a prison?,” he raps. “They tried to swallow me whole, God be my witness / Deprive me outta my dreams but I’m relentless.

The new Nipsey Hussle tribute follows Meek Mill’s recent ode to the late rapper, who died in 2019, on ‘Letter To Nipsey’.

Mill also performed alongside John LegendDJ Khaled and more as part of a huge Nipsey Hussle tribute at the 2020 Grammys. The rapper was given his first Grammys at the show as the music community came together to celebrate his life and career.

Justin Timberlake teased a new Lizzo collaboration at the end of last year, calling it “flames”. He’s also set to star in new drama Palmer, about a former football player who heads back to his hometown after a stint in prison.

The singer released his last album ‘Man Of The Woods’ in 2018. A three-star NME review of the album said: “The funk-pop king has embraced a love of the outdoors and a (kinda) brand-new sound.”

The review continued: “The old Timberlake shines through at all turns – and you know what? We still think he’s ace.”

50 Cent has walked out of an interview after being quizzed on recent internet rumours that allege he assaulted French Montana in Miami.

The recent rumours follow a long-standing beef between the pair.

50 Cent was being interviewed by Complex about new ABC drama For Life, which the rapper worked on as an executive producer.

During the chat, 50 is asked if things have been resolved between French Montana and himself, to which he says he “[doesn’t] really have interest in it ’cause there’s nothing really going on.”

The interviewer goes on to bring up the rumours that he allegedly “snuffed” Montana in a Miami club, to which the rapper replied: “No, there’s no truth to that. Why would I do a thing like that?”

The interviewer then responds by saying “I wouldn’t put it past you,” at which point 50 decided to end the interview, taking his microphone off and walking out of the room.

“Why would you think that way?” he said as he left the room. “You think Will Smith would do that? I can’t believe you would say these things about me. This guy right here would assault French Montana. Why would I do a thing like that?”

The long-standing beef between 50 Cent and French Montana has escalated this year, with 50 and his fans accusing Montana of “faking” his Spotify streams last month. Montana responded by claiming that 50 himself was behind the fake streaming numbers in order to escalate the beef.

The feuding continued days later as Montana trolled 50 by posting an alleged photo of the rapper kissing Eminem.

50 recently said he intends never to feud with anyone again in the wake of Kobe Bryant’s death.
