Lil Durk and Gunna pay homage to Virgil Abloh in ‘What Happened To Virgil’ music video

Featuring sets inspired by the late designer’s work

Rappers Lil Durk and Gunna have paid tribute to the late Virgil Abloh with a new music video for ‘What Happened To Virgil’.

The music video – released on Tuesday, April 12 – was directed by Cole Bennett and features multiple sets that were inspired by the work of the late Louis Vuitton artistic director and Off White founder. The video also pays respects to Lil Durk’s late brother D Thang and the rapper King Von, who was shot dead in 2020.

The video opens with a quote from Abloh that reads: “Life is so short that you can’t waste even a day subscribing to what someone thinks you can do versus knowing what you can do.”

Watch the music video for ‘What Happened To Virgil’ below.

The video ends with a series of pictures that explain the symbolism of the sets featured in the music video, including Drake’s plane that was painted by Virgil, and the red roof design that was one of the last things Abloh worked on for Louis Vuitton before his passing.

Virgil Abloh died in November 2021 after suffering from cancer for several years. Abloh kept his diagnosis private and did not share details of his illness publicly. The likes of Drake, Kanye West, Frank Ocean and Tyler, the Creator paid tribute to the late designer.

‘What Happened To Virgil’ features on Lil Durk’s latest album, ‘7220’, which was released March 11. Lil Durk is currently on tour in the United States, which is set to wrap up on May 2 in Chicago. He is also scheduled to perform at Rolling Loud in Miami this July alongside Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Future and more.

(G)I-DLE’s Yuqi has opened up about her insecurities about the way her voice sounds and how she learned to love it more.

In a recent interview with Indian entertainment television channel Zoom, the Chinese K-pop idol spoke about how she felt “disappointed” about her voice during her younger days, especially when some would say she sounded like a boy.

“Before I came to Korea, I felt kind of disappointed [and] uncomfortable about my voice, because everyone would say, ‘sometimes she sounds like a boy’,” the vocalist explained.

However, Yuqi then said how working with (G)I-DLE leader Soyeon helped her appreciate her voice more. “But after I came to this group, and Soyeon, especially our leader, she really know[s] how to make my voice better and get everyone [to] like my voice and I really appreciate it.”

“I think, in my opinion, my voice is a kind of diamond, maybe?” Yuqi enthused. “I really love my voice.”

Earlier this month, Yuqi opened up about the girl group’s bond and the hardships she faced while promoting on her own in China previously. “I realised how difficult it is to promote alone while [doing so] in China during [(G)I-DLE’s] break,” she told Dazed Korea.

After returning to South Korea late last year, Yuqi revealed that she felt best when her fellow members of (G)I-DLE were all together as a team. “We need to stay together to survive,” she concluded. “I think this phrase suits (G)I-DLE the best.”

Last month, (G)I-DLE released ‘I Never Die’, the group’s first-ever studio album since their debut in 2018. Notably, it is also the first project they’ve released since former member Soojin’s departure from the group in August 2021.

Source Music, a subsidiary of HYBE, has announced a debut date for its upcoming girl group, LE SSERAFIM.

In a statement issued to Weverse today (April 12), Source Music announced that LE SSERAFIM are set to release their first mini-album on May 2 at 6pm KST. Their upcoming record, titled ‘Fearless’, is currently available for pre-order through the Weverse Shop. Further details, such as a tracklist, are set to be released in the coming days.

Apart from their first release, LE SSERAFIM is also set to hold a fan showcase for their debut at the Jangchung Arena on May 2 at 8pm KST, with a livestream to be simultaneously broadcast online. Details on ticketing for LE SSERAFIM’s in-person and online show have yet to be released.

Earlier this month, Source Music announced that LE SSERAFIM would be comprised of IZ*ONE’s Miyawaki Sakura and Kim Chae-won, Produce 48’s Heo Yun-jin, Kim Ga-ram, Hong Eun-chae and Kazuha through a series of teasers posted through the group’s social media handles.

The label has also recently publicly denied allegations that Kim Ga-ram was a school bully. Less than a day after the label introduced Kim as a member of the group, a number of netizens claimed that the 16-year-old singer had been involved in bullying incidents during her school days.

HYBE, which owns Source Music, the agency in charge of LE SSERAFIM, has since denied all allegations and taken legal action in a statement posted on April 6. The label claimed that the allegations have been “cunningly edited” in order to “maliciously slander” Kim.

Amy Winehouse’s iconic performance at Glastonbury Festival in 2007 is being released on vinyl for the first time ever.

The vinyl release of ‘Live at Glastonbury 2007’ will mark the 15th anniversary of Winehouse’s legendary performance on the Pyramid Stage, her second time playing Glastonbury. She performed her timeless hits like ‘Rehab’, ‘You Know I’m No Good’, ‘Tears Dry On Their Own’ and ‘Valerie’. See the cover and the full tracklist below.

Artwork for the release will include a recollection of the performance by Glastonbury co-organiser Emily Eavis, who said in a statement: “Amy Winehouse was a Glastonbury-goer through and through. She either came and played or, when she wasn’t working, came and camped. She played in the blistering heat and the heavy rain, and there were so many magical moments to her performances.”

The vinyl is due for release on June 3 via Universal Music. The performance is being pressed on 2 black LPs, with a crystal clear edition made available exclusively through Universal Music. Pre-orders for the vinyl can be made here.

Amy Winehouse died at the age of 27 in 2011 from alcohol poisoning. She had only released two albums – 2003’s ‘Frank’ and 2006’s ‘Back To Black’ – both of which are critically acclaimed. Following her passing, a posthumous compilation ‘Lioness: Hidden Treasures’ was released in 2011.

In November, a Fender Stratocaster guitar used by Amy Winehouse on stage and in the video for ‘Take The Box’ was sold for £117,00 at an auction, while the dress that Winehouse wore during her final stage performance a month before she died was sold for more than £180,000.
