The new filter features the same pale blue-toned effect that mimics the 2003 album’s artwork. The band’s frontwoman, Amy Lee tried out the filter for herself on the social media app and captioned her clip: “20 years baby! And I still don’t have a nose! Let’s see you try.”
Along with the filter on the app, the band have also reissued ‘Fallen’ with remastered audio as well as B-sides, unreleased demos, live recordings and a new colourful version of the album’s original artwork.
“20 years later, this album has never meant more,” wrote Lee as part of the accompanying foreword found in the physical edition of the LP. “Fallen has been the soundtrack to first loves, epic heartbreak, self-realisation, wedding days, last goodbyes, friendships, and countless other moments in so many lives… not to mention my own. I am forever humbled and grateful to be a part of it.”
Speaking to NME last year about ‘Fallen’ and it’s impact as part of their In Conversation series, Lee said: “I remember being here and doing these interviews on our first tour and I really did not think that I would be here now at 40, almost 41, not because I didn’t think we could, but its become so much bigger to me.”
She continued: “It’s just become something more than it was when we started and that is from all the love that has been put into it by me and many others. Just pure, true love and fighting, fighting for it and getting through on the other side of the fight. It’s really cool to be here and by now I think with our fans so many of them, the old school fans, we’ve lived life together. That music is the soundtrack to some of our lives it means something more than it could’ve back then.”
“And for the new ones, I just think that’s wonderful. That’s great, that’s kick-ass. That means they’re sharing it and also that we continue to make cool music. That’s the goal,” she added.
The rap section, performed by Paul McCoy of 12 Stones, was a creative decision made by the band’s label rather than Evanescence themselves, and they have frequently spoken of their dislike for it.
When asked in an interview with Metal Hammer how she feels about the ‘Bring Me To Life’ rap today, 20 years on from its initial release, Lee said: “I stopped performing it a long time ago. We never really did perform it. When we’re on tour and we have somebody that fits into that spot, they jump up on the song. We were on tour with P.O.D and we had Sonny [Sandoval, vocalist] get up a few times. And obviously, if we’re ever in the same town as Paul [McCoy, 12 Stones vocalist], who originally did the part, we will have him come up, because it’s fun and it’s cool and nostalgic.
“But that part, that sound, that’s not my style. That’s why it was such a difficult pill to swallow, even on one song. But we won because we didn’t have to change our whole sound.”

Tom Hiddleston has said that his upcoming Stephen King adaptation The Life of Chuck reminds him of The Shawshank Redemption.
The new film is an adaptation of a short story from King’s novella If It Bleeds, a collection of four tales first released in 2020. It will depict three stories from the life of Charles “Chuck” Krantz.
Appearing on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confusedpodcast, the actor, who will play the title character, said that of all King’s well-known works, it is a previous film adaptation that he feels his new project most closely resembles.
“What I love about this material and the short stories out there, was it seemed to be resonant of the Stephen King who wrote The Shawshank Redemption,” he said.
“There’s a warmth and a kind of spirit that’s really on the side of life in the story, that I really connected to when I read it. It was just the most extraordinary script. I connected to it immediately. So when we met, I just said ‘This is amazing. Can I come and do it? Can I please come and do it?’ And yeah, and we had a great time.”
The 1994 film classic The Shawshank Redemption was based on King’s 1982 novella, Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption.
The Life of Chuck is written and directed by Mike Flanagan, who has previously helmed films including Doctor Sleep and Oculus, and recently created the Netflix miniseries The Fall of The House of Usher.
Hiddleston will star in the film alongside Mark Hamill, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Karen Gillan.
“One of the main takeaways from our conversations was: ‘What you put into Marvel, you get back’”, she said.
“He said, ‘If you go into this with an open heart and a great work ethic and just want to provide an amazing experience for the fans, you’ll have an amazing experience on those sets.’ He really empowered me in that way.”
The Fresh Meat star added: “He also had some very good practical advice, which was: Make sure you have enough zippers to go to the bathroom in your costume. Which is very good advice, I realise now.”
Hiddleston won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for his role in the 2016 BBC series The Night Manager.

Jamala – real name Susana Alimivna Jamaladinova – was listed as being sought for violating a criminal law in the Interior Ministry database (via AP News). She was allegedly charged for spreading false information about the Russian military and the ongoing fighting in Ukraine after a law banning such was adopted last year.
The singer won the 2016 singing contest with her song ‘1944’, which was named after the year that the Soviet Union deported Crimean Tatars, an annexation largely regarded as illegitimate by other countries who still viewed Crimea as a Ukrainian territory – nearly two years after Russia annexed Crimea, according to Pitchfork.
‘1944’ depicted the suffering endured by her ancestors during deportations under the regime of the Soviet dictator Josef Stalin, which caused further tension with Russia.
According to AP News, Russia protested against the song from being allowed in the competition, saying it violated rules against political speech in Eurovision. The track was able to be entered in the competition due to it not making any specific criticism of Russia or the Soviet Union, although it drew implications, opening with the lyrics “When strangers are coming / they come to your house / they kill you all and say / ‘We’re not guilty'”.
Ukraine severed diplomatic ties with Russia, and declared martial law, after Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an attack on the neighbouring nation on Thursday, February 24, 2022.
She delivered an emotive performance of her Eurovision winning song while holding a Ukrainian flag throughout. At the end, Jamala held the flag high and delivered a message of support to her home country.
