Alan Partridge‘s new TV show This Time will be returning for a second season, star Steve Coogan has confirmed.

The show, which debuted last year, sees Alan stepping in at the last minute to host the BBC weekly magazine show alongside Jennie Gresham.

The show’s creators said “the door’s not shut” with regards to a second series last year, and Coogan has now confirmed that a return is indeed on the way.

“There’ll be another series of This Time in the next 12 months,” he told Zoe Ball on her Radio 2 breakfast show.

Steve Coogan as Alan Partridge on ‘This Time’

“It was never intended to definitely be a one series thing with a huge catastrophe at the end, that’d be too similar to what’s gone before with Alan,” writers told Digital Spy last year.

An NME review of This Time With Alan Partridge said the show was “among his finest outings to date.”

Nick Reilly added: “Alan Partridge might have left the BBC under a cloud of shame, but his return is the complete opposite. It’s a slice of comedic gold and an early contender for the funniest show of the year. Back of the net.”

Steve Coogan recently revealed that The Trip To Greece, the latest edition of his show The Trip alongside Rob Brydon, will be the final edition of the series.

He’s also set to explore the #MeToo era in a new Channel 4 comedy drama called Chivalry.

MIKE PORTNOY Discusses His Frustrations With Social Media: ‘I’ve Learned To Have To Try To Watch What I Say’

In a recent interview with World Prog-Nation, former DREAM THEATER and current SONS OF APOLLO drummer Mike Portnoy spoke about how his desire to interact with his fans on social media has at times backfired, with him finding himself at the receiving end of an outpouring of hostility. "It's frustrating, because I put a huge importance on always telling the truth and being honest and open with the fans," he said (see video below). "I never try to sugarcoat something with bullshit or say the politically correct thing. I speak from the heart. Sometimes that comes back to bite me in the ass, and I've learned to have to try to watch what I say. And a lot of times, I'll see stuff misinterpreted, or whatever, so sometimes I'll chime in to try to at least set the record straight, and then even that gets misinterpreted. "I'm trying to learn how to bite my tongue as much as I can," he continued. "I told you before we started [the interview] I don't wanna talk about DREAM THEATER, because even in the case of them, even when I try to say something nice, like, 'Oh, I miss those guys,' or whatever, then even that gets miinterpreted. People are, like, 'Oh, he's lingering on the band,' or, 'He misses them.' Or blah blah blah. Without getting into a DREAM THEATER question, I'm saying even when I say something nice, it somehow gets twisted, and it's frustrating — it's really frustrating. But what am I gonna do? I'm not gonna not do interviews. There are some people that would just shut down and stop doing interviews. I'm not gonna let social media shut me up. I just try to be careful." According to Portnoy, being active on social media was a no-brainer for him, especially since it allowed him to share his views with like-minded individuals. "I've always been like that, because I'm just as much of a fan myself," he explained. "I was always the tapetrader in the band back in the '80s, and then when the Internet came around, our forum and all the other bands' forums, of the bands I love, I'd always chime in and get involved with that. So social media was a natural form of expression for me, because I wanna interact with the fans because I'm just as much of a fan. And then I get blasted for that too. The other day I made a comment about Joey Kramer of AEROSMITH, just talking like a fan, like anybody else, and then somebody blasted me, like, 'Why don't you just concentrate on your own stuff? How dare you talk about another band?' It's, like, really? You're allowed to talk about another band, but I can't? I'm a fan as well, and I'm allowed to have an opinion just as well. I'm not saying my opinion is right; it's just an opinion. It's just my take on a situation as a fan." Portnoy, who co-founded DREAM THEATER 35 years ago, abruptly quit the band in September 2010 while on tour with AVENGED SEVENFOLD. He has since been replaced by Mike Mangini (ANNIHILATOR, EXTREME, JAMES LABRIE, STEVE VAI). SONS OF APOLLO's second studio album, "MMXX" (pronounced: 20/20), was released on January 17 via InsideOut Music/Sony.

There is no mistaking precocious talent. When SEVEN SPIRES released their debut album "Solveig" in 2017, it may not have set the world alight, but it clearly heralded the arrival of a uniquely exuberant and inventive new force in the increasingly interchangeable worlds of power, symphonic and traditional metal. Fronted by the absurdly versatile and charismatic Adrienne Cowan and blessed with one of the most gifted young guitarists around, Jack Kosto, this gang of incurable metallic romantics conjured a debut full of great songs, but songs that resolutely refused to be nailed to one genre mast nor another. Cowan's tendency to switch into screeching banshee mode aside, SEVEN SPIRES are a fervently melodic band with strong links to the power metal scene, but with often startling skill and grace, they filled "Solveig" with unexpected detours into more extreme territory, while also pumping everything with enough progressive and symphonic substance to keep several other potential audiences blissfully happy too. That was just the start, of course, and all that potential would go to waste if the follow-up failed to repeat the trick or, ideally, to outstrip it completely. Joyously, "Emerald Seas" achieves the latter goal with ease, trumping its predecessor on every level and adding countless extra layers of intrigue and depth to its creators' genre-melding sound. It's also vastly more theatrical than "Solveig", as SEVEN SPIRES indulge their dark, poetic fantasies across intricate, sprawling metal epics that frequently seem to owe as much to CRADLE OF FILTH as they do to KAMELOT. It would take some self-control to avoid being bowled over by the sheer exuberance of opener "Ghost of a Dream". This is gloriously opulent melodic metal at heart, but there's a venom in the band's delivery and an audible twinkle in their singer's eye giving everything here a delicious frisson of malevolence. "No Words Exchanged" and "Every Crest" are instantly memorable anthems, with Cowan scaling the octaves like some magical diva, while "Unmapped Darkness" is a grittier, shadow-strewn slice of melodrama, with a chorus so thrillingly overwrought that it deserves a medal for services to keeping the Disney dream alive. First single "Succumb" is a buoyant miniature masterpiece: quite how Cowan hits some of those notes may be a matter for the local witchfinder, but SEVEN SPIRES are unerring in their inspired use of chord and key changes, never quite doing the obvious but delivering melodic payoff after payoff, often before diving off on another preposterous tangent, or into a blizzard of blastbeats, but always wrapping things up within three-to-five immaculate minutes That they manage all this while still blistering away like the audacious virtuosos they clearly are — well, it's a little bit sickening, but it's also beyond exciting to hear a new band operating in this part of the metal world and doing something authentically new and utterly irresistible with such beloved ingredients. "Emerald Seas" never flags for a second: this is the eyeball-dislodging boot up the backside that power metal has needed for a while. Some of these songs (the pitch-black, gothic squall of "Drowner Of Worlds"; the almost indecently sumptuous "Fearless") will haunt your dreams. The rest will make you punch the air like a massive goof. "Emerald Seas" is, and I can't apologize enough for this, an absolute gem.

The mysterious woman who appears on the cover of Black Sabbath‘s legendary debut album has been revealed.

The artwork for the 1970 album, which celebrated its 50th birthday this week, sees a cloaked woman standing alone in a grainy woodland.

The setting, a new retrospective on half a century of the album in Rolliing Stone reveals, is a 15th-century water mill in Oxfordshire called Mapledurham, and the woman pictured is model Louisa Livingstone.

Photographer Keith Macmillan says he chose Livingstone, who now makes electronic music under the name Indreba, for the role because she’s five feet tall, and as a result, the landscape around her would look bigger.

Black Sabbath

“She wasn’t wearing any clothes under that cloak because we were doing things that were slightly more risqué, but we decided none of that worked,” Macmillan explained to Rolling Stone. “Any kind of sexuality took away from the more foreboding mood. But she was a terrific model. She had amazing courage and understanding of what I was trying to do.”

“I remember it was freezing cold,” Livingstone, who was in her teens at the time of the shoot, explains. “I had to get up at about 4 o’clock in the morning. Keith was rushing around with dry ice, throwing it into the water. It didn’t seem to be working very well, so he ended up using a smoke machine. It was just, ‘Stand there and do that.’ I’m sure he said it was for Black Sabbath, but I don’t know if that meant anything much to me at the time.”

Black Sabbath played their last ever show in their hometown of Birmingham in 2017. Frontman Ozzy Osbourne revealed this year that he’s been battling Parkinson’s Disease since 2003.

BRIAN ‘HEAD’ WELCH Says Death Of JONATHAN DAVIS’s Wife Brought KORN Members ‘Closer’ Together

KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch spoke to Andy Hall of the Des Moines, Iowa radio station Lazer 103.3 about how singer Jonathan Davis losing both his mother and his estranged wife within the same time span during the making of the band's latest LP, "The Nothing", affected the group's interpersonal relationships. Asked if Davis leaned on his bandmates a little more as a result of the tragedy, Welch said: "Totally. We all got closer. I went and visited him, and so did the [other] guys, just to be with him at his house — just to be there, just to be around. We didn't know what to do, 'cause we were in the middle of writing — two weeks on, two weeks off type of thing — and then that happened, and it was just, like, 'We don't know when to get back to work.'" He continued: "It was heavy for all of us, because we were all connected — good or bad — for years and years, with him and his wife and his family and everything. So it was just a trip, man. But it did bring us closer, and it kind of sparked a better appreciation for life. I don't know — tragedy seems to make you think. And then working for the band, too, I feel like he dug into his pain and healing with writing this record a lot more — like he used to do in the past. Pain produces a lot of cool things, if you let it. If you don't let it, it takes you down and makes you bitter." Davis's wife Deven died in August 2018 at the age of 39 from the effects of mixing five drugs, including cocaine and heroin. The former girl-on-girl porn star reportedly suffered with sobriety and substance abuse throughout her life. According to Jonathan, Deven also battled alcohol and a sex and gambling addiction. In a statement released shortly after her death, Jonathan called Deven "an amazing wife, amazing mother and amazing friend" who was suffering from "a very serious mental illness." After marrying Jonathan in 2004, Deven and the singer had two kids together, Pirate and Zeppelin. (Jonathan's first son from his previous marriage, Nathan, turned 24 last fall.) "The Nothing", KORN's 13th studio LP, came out last year. The band is currently on the road in the U.S. with BREAKING BENJAMIN.

Kevin Smith’s new He-Man-featuring Netflix anime series Masters Of The Universe: Revelation has revealed its all-star cast.

Henry Rollins, Mark Hamill, Lena Headey and more are all set for the new reboot of the Masters Of The Universe series, which began with a film of the same name in 1982 and has played out across films (including the 1987 live-action movie featuring Dolph Lundgren as He-Man), animated TV series and comic books for a number of years.

Smith has described the new series, which is yet to confirm a release date, as “pick[ing] up right where the classic era left off to tell an epic tale of what may be the final battle between He-Man and Skeletor.”

He-Man is set to be voiced by Chris Wood in the new show, with Henry Rollins becoming Tri-Klops and Lena Headey as Evil-Lyn. Mark Hamill will voice Skeletor.

GARY HOLT Hopes To Have New EXODUS Album Out Before End Of 2020

This past Wednesday (February 12), EXODUS guitarist Gary Holt spoke to Finland’s Kaaos TV about the band’s plans to make the follow-up to 2014’s “Blood In Blood Out” album. He said (see video below): “We’ll be in the studio hopefully this summer. We’re…

BLABBERMOUTH.NET

This past Wednesday (February 12), EXODUS guitarist Gary Holt spoke to Finland's Kaaos TV about the band's plans to make the follow-up to 2014's "Blood In Blood Out" album. He said (see video below): "We'll be in the studio hopefully this summer. We're staying home this summer, except for one show at the Dynamo festival [in the Netherlands]. We're not doing a European summer festival tour or nothing, and we're just gonna work on the new record. And it's fucking heavy. [Laughs] It's so heavy. [Laughs]" Gary went on to say that he has "a lot of stuff" already written for the next EXODUS LP. "I never stop writing," he revealed. "I've got enough riffs for five albums right now. I'll keep writing right up till we start recording." As for a possible release date for EXODUS's new effort, Holt said: "I hope to have it out this year — like late in the year. We'll see how the scheduling goes and all that." Holt also talked about returning to EXODUS as a full-time member after playing with SLAYER for nearly a decade as the replacement for late guitarist Jeff Hanneman. He said: "[When I first started playing with SLAYER], I thought I was just going to step in and help the guys out until Jeff could come back. And I thought maybe [I would stay there for] six months tops. And tragedy struck, and next thing I know, it's almost nine years. And it was nine great years, and we had a lot of fun, despite the tragedy that resulted in my still being there. But at the end of the day, I'm happy to be back here. This is my family. SLAYER is my family too. This is my first family. They're second family. And these guys are my childhood friends. So it's good to be back with 'em." Gary also shot down the suggestion that playing with SLAYER inspired him to write new EXODUS material. "[Those are] totally different worlds," he explained. "My job in SLAYER was play the songs, play them well and go out and shred as fast as I can for the whole show. And it was cool. And it was good for my lead chops, 'cause there's a lot of solos in the SLAYER songs, especially for me, 'cause I did all of Jeff's solos, and Jeff had a lot of leads. So it was cool. I got to shine and do my thing and stuff and do it in front of a lot of people. But I'm happy to be back where I belong." Holt joined EXODUS in 1981 shortly after the band's formation, and has been its main songwriter ever since. Holt has performed on every EXODUS album, and is considered highly influential in the world of thrash metal. In 2011, he began filling in for Hanneman at SLAYER live shows, and became the band's full-time co-guitarist as of 2013, while remaining a member of EXODUS. In October 2014, EXODUS released its tenth studio album, "Blood In Blood Out", on the Nuclear Blast label. "Blood In Blood Out" marked EXODUS's first album since the departure of the group's lead singer of nine years, Rob Dukes, and the return of Steve "Zetro" Souza, who previously fronted EXODUS from 1986 to 1993 and from 2002 to 2004.

The fifth Indiana Jones film will begin filming this spring, star Harrison Ford has revealed.

It was only last week when Ford, who has played the character of Jones since 1981, was announced to be returning to the role for the new film.

Now, in a new interview with CBS News, Ford revealed that the new film, which Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy recently described as “not a reboot” but “a continuation,” will begin filming in two months.

“I’m gonna start doing Indiana Jones in about two months,” he revealed. “I’m always delighted to come back to these characters. We have the opportunity to make another because people have enjoyed them. I feel obliged to make sure that our efforts are as ambitious as they were when it started.

“You have a sense of responsibility to your customers,” the actor continued. “I think of the people who go to my movies more as customers than I do as ‘fans’, ‘fans’ feels kind of weird to me, always has. But the fact that these people support my business, and I’m responsible to them for the quality of the service that I offer.”

Ford has played Indiana Jones since 1981, across the franchise’s four films – Raiders of the Lost ArkThe Temple of DoomThe Last Crusade and The Crystal Skull.

Indiana Jones 5 was originally due to come out in July last year, before being pushed back to July 2020, and then given a final later release date of July 9, 2021.

Back in 2018, Ford shut down rumours of Chris Pratt becoming the new Indiana Jones, which he backed up last year, saying that “nobody else is gonna be Indiana Jones” when he gives up the role.

“Don’t you get it? I’m Indiana Jones,” he told the Today show. “When I’m gone, he’s gone. It’s easy…”

Norwegian progressive metal act GREEN CARNATION will release "Leaves Of Yesteryear", its first collection of new music in 14 years, on May 8 via Season Of Mist. The cover artwork was created by Niklas Sundin and can be found below. "The cover contains elements from the lyrics on the album, affected by the music and expressed through the cover artist Niklas Sundin's pencil," singer Kjetil Nordhus says. "Niklas put a lot of effort into going deep into this album, and came up with a few different sketches. We immediately fell for this one. It is rich in detail, is eye catching and, of course, has Niklas's signature, which we are very fond of." Track listing: 01. Leaves Of Yesteryear (08:03) 02. Sentinels (05:42) 03. My Dark Reflections Of Life And Death (15:36) 04. Hounds (10:10) 05. Solitude (05:05) Total: 0:44:36 After almost 10 years of total silence, GREEN CARNATION announced its comeback to the international metal scene for the 15th anniversary of their cult classic "Light Of Day, Day Of Darkness" in 2016. GREEN CARNATION from Kristiansand, Norway, was founded as early as 1990. After founding member Tchort joined legends-to-be EMPEROR and continued in SATYRICON and EINHERJER, the band was laid to rest until its debut album, "A Journey To The End Of The Night", came out in 2000. Following a period with lineup changes, 2001 marked the release of the band's epic "Light Of Day, Day Of Darkness". With their albums "A Blessing In Disguise" (2003) and "The Quiet Offspring" (2005), GREEN CARNATION shifted towards a more rock-orientated style, before they surprised everyone with the stripped-down record "Acoustic Verses" in 2006. What followed in the same year is perhaps one of the most spectacular DVD recordings metal history. The band played a show in the mountains, under a 30-meter-high dam. Only a year later, GREEN CARNATION disbanded. After the successful return in 2016, the band continued to play shows in 2017 and 2018. In September 2019, the progressive metal act announced that it was going to record its first album in 14 years at DUB Studio with producer Endre Kirkesola (ABBATH, IN VAIN, SOLEFALD), who also helmed "Light Of Day, Day Of Darkness".
