Ted Nugent has weighed in on the latest in a spate of deadly U.S. mass shootings, saying "this kind of stuff could be stopped." On Wednesday, a California transit employee killed nine co-workers before taking his own life. Authorities said Thursday they recovered three handguns following the rampage at the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) property in San Jose, rather than two they initially said the gunman carried. A board member of the National Rifle Association, Nugent addressed the San Jose killings during a Facebook Live stream earlier today (Thursday, May 27). He said in part (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I see all these news reports… News reports — they're not news reports; they're propaganda explosions. "So we had a horrible shooting in San Diego [sic]. And then someone will criticize us for offering thoughts and prayers to the victims. Well, we do offer thoughts and prayers to all victims. And, you know, this kind of stuff could be stopped. "So there's a shooting in San Diego [sic] by a guy who has been reported to the government officials numerous times that he rapes his wife, he rapes his ex-wife, he has stated numerous times to the people in his life, 'I wanna kill people. I'm really upset down there at the VTA, Valley Transit Authority [sic]. I'd like to kill those people.' And so the people who heard these threats of violence called the people in charge, people with authority… And right away, the news goes, 'He probably used one of those assault weapons, those military assault weapons, to kill that many people.' No, he used two handguns. The San Diego [sic] shooter used two handguns. 'Well, where did he get 'em?' I don't know. Ace Hardware? Or the same place that the Crips and Bloods get 'em. Or maybe the MS-13 get 'em. Maybe they got 'em from Eric Holder [former Attorney General of the United States] and Barack Obama [former president of the United States]." Nugent continued: "See what's going on here? This propaganda ministry in the United States Of America has brainwashed so many feeble, comfortably numb, braindead, soulless punks that they believe this shit. "Hey, Mr. Newscaster, he didn't use an AR-15 — he had two handguns. And you know how he killed all those people? It was freakboy Biden's dream. It was David Chipman's dream where these people died, just like in every instance where the most innocent lives are lost," he said, referring to President Biden's choice to lead the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). "It's in David Chipman's dream, it's in Sarah Brady's [former prominent advocate for gun control in the United States] dream, it's in Barack Obama's dream zone of gun-free zones. And we still accept it. "Tell your mayor, your senator and your congressman and your governor every fucking day that the most innocent lives are always lost in gun-free zones. The guitar player can fix that. End gun-free zones. "My fellow Americans, you wanna save lives? Uncle Ted's got the answer. Get everybody in your life to make sure they don't drink and drive. Make sure they don't buy chemicals that destroy their brain and eat enough food to turn 'em into sperm whales. That's how you save lives. "I can give you the list of causes of death in this country, and it eclipses the Chinese virus. "Get rid of gun-free zones. Eat like you have a brain and a conscience. Respect your sacred temple by stop poisoning it. And raise absolute living hell with your government punks who have been ignoring us for too long. "I have the right to protect my sacred gift of life — period — on planet Earth. Thank God America has a Second Amendment 'cause it's the only place that does. And if you got rid of all the violent Democrat-controlled cities, we wouldn't be in top one hundred of crime with firearms in the world. If you got rid of Chicago and Detroit and San Francisco and Baltimore, if you got rid of all the Democrat-run gun-free zones, America wouldn't be in the top one hundred of slaughter zones of the world. Because the Democrats like you to lose control and to be unarmed and helpless. What a curse. What a demonic decree. That another man can possibly tell you, 'No, I'm afraid you can't defend yourself in these areas.'" Gun-free zones are areas where firearms are federally prohibited with or without a permit. Critics of the legislation have said that mandating gun-free zones announces to the bad guys that it's open season on law-abiding citizens. This past March, Nugent threatened President Joe Biden and other Democrats, telling them to "come and take it" just hours before the House of Representatives passed two gun-safety bills. In a March 11 Facebook post, Nugent addressed Biden and "all you other oath violating traitors," writing, "Google my address and itinerary and Come and Take It!" He also proclaimed, "If you want to play Concorde bridge again, you will be the British and I will be the Americans, again."

CANNIBAL CORPSE’s ERIK RUTAN Has ‘Thought About’ Writing Autobiography

In a brand new interview with the "Scars And Guitars" podcast, veteran death metal guitarist Erik Rutan and producer, who has played with CANNIBAL CORPSE, HATE ETERNAL, MORBID ANGEL and RIPPING CORPSE, was asked if he would ever consider releasing an autobiography. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I thought about writing down my memoirs, but I always thought to myself I wouldn't release it until I was dead. "My life story is so complicated and complex and vast. That's what I notice when I do interviews that are not just specifically related to one thing. Of course, they're long, because, Jesus, my career is long — there's so much there, let alone my life. Before I was even 18, I felt like I had lived 40 years of life. So it's a really involved story, and definitely a story of someone that could have easily ended up not here talking to you right now. So it's an interesting story. I share a little bit of myself when I do interviews or talk to people. I keep a lot to myself as well. You'd be amazed at the people I've met that have shared personal things with me and that my music inspired them to wanna tell me these things, and I tell them a little bit of myself that I might not share in a public forum — because that's my way of giving it back to them for sharing with me." He continued: "I've even had offers to do a book, but I always thought if I was to do something like that, I wouldn't wanna candy-coat it and I'd wanna be fully transparent, just kind of like how I am. I guess I thought I should start writing down my memoirs because I'm getting older and my life is a really unique story and definitely an underdog kind of story of me being a kid that, man, I had all the odds stacked against me to make it in life, let alone in my lofty career goals. But somehow I was able to overcome a lot of adversity to get to this point. I guess I thought about it, but, like I said, I don't think I would ever… I don't know… I don't know if I'd ever do a book. And if ever did a book, I wouldn't release it till I was gone." CANNIBAL CORPSE released its 15th studio album, "Violence Unimagined", on April 16 via Metal Blade Records. Rutan lent his guitar as well as production skills to the effort, which was recorded at his Mana Recording in St. Petersburg, Florida. Rutan previously produced four CANNIBAL CORPSE albums (in addition to "Violence Unimagined"), alongside the likes of GOATWHORE, SOILENT GREEN and BELPHEGOR. Filling in live on guitar since 2019, in 2020 he became a full member, contributing to the writing process. Erik Rutan photo credit: Alex Morgan Imaging

KISS frontman Paul Stanley has reflected on Patrick MacDonald's scathing review of the band's 1974 concert in Seattle, saying the Seattle Times writer's words grow "funnier every year." MacDonald attended KISS's May 25, 1974 performance at the Paramount Northwest, where the band shared the bill with MANFRED MANN and SAVOY BROWN. In his review, which was published two days later, MacDonald described KISS as "a very flashy glitter band that tries to make up in theatrics what it lacks musically," and called their set an "amusing rock extravaganza" while dismissing the songs as "strictly on the moron level ... made up of a series of simple chords any child could learn and lyrics that are there because they rhyme." He went on to say: "I hope the four guys who make up the group, whose names don't matter, are putting money away for the future. The near future, because KISS won't be around long." Earlier today, Stanley shared a portion of MacDonald's review on Twitter, and he included the following message: "This grows funnier every year. And to the gentleman who wrote this 'prophecy'... In 1974 I hope YOU were putting away YOUR money for the future. It's not easy being an unemployed critic." MacDonald reportedly had a 35-year-run as the Seattle Times' music critic before retiring in 2008. He ended his farewell column by quoting one of KISS's best-known songs. "What am I going to do now?" he asked. "Well, of course, I'm going to rock 'n' roll all night and party every day!" KISS's farewell trek was launched in January 2019 and was originally scheduled to conclude on July 17, 2021 in New York City but is now expected to last well into 2022. KISS last performed this past New Year's Eve in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The concert broke Guinness world records for highest flame projection in a music concert and for most flame projections launched simultaneously in a music concert. KISS's current lineup consists of original members Stanley and bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons, alongside later band additions, guitarist Tommy Thayer (since 2002) and drummer Eric Singer (on and off since 1991). Formed in 1973 by Stanley, Simmons, Peter Criss (drums) and Ace Frehley (guitar), KISS staged its first "farewell" tour in 2000, the last to feature the group's original lineup. In its 48-year career, KISS has accumulated 23 gold and platinum albums — more than any other U.S. band.

In advance of the June 9 release of "Permanent Damage: Memoirs Of An Outrageous Girl", co-author Lyndsey Parker, Alice Cooper, singer Arrow de Wilde of STARCRAWLER and Pamela Des Barres with moderator Lina Lecaro will discuss the book at a Grammy Museum digital event available beginning June 3. The "Permanent Damage" event is as part of Collection:live, the Grammy Museum's new official online streaming service. More details can be found here about the event and read more here about key takeaways from the book. "Permanent Damage: Memoirs Of An Outrageous Girl" shows us the world of the 1960s and 1970s music scene through Mercy Fontenot's eyes, as well as the fallout of that era — experiencing homelessness before sobering up and putting her life back together. Written just prior to her death in 2020 with veteran music journalist Lyndsey Parker, Miss Mercy's journey is a can't-miss for anyone who was there and can't remember, or just wishes they'd been there. Mercy Fontenot was a Zelig who grew up in the San Francisco Haight Ashbury scene, where she crossed paths with Charles Manson, went to the first Acid Test, and was friends with Jimi Hendrix (she was later in his movie "Rainbow Bridge"). She predicted the Altamont disaster when reading THE ROLLING STONES' tarot cards at a party and left San Francisco for the climes of Los Angeles in 1967 when the Haight "lost its magic." Miss Mercy's work in the GTOS, the Frank Zappa-produced all-female band, launched her into the pages of Rolling Stone in 1969. Her adventures saw her jumping out of a cake at Alice Cooper's first record release party, while high on PCP, and had her travel to Memphis where she met Al Green and got a job working for the Bar-Kays. Along the way, she married and then divorced Shuggie Otis, before transitioning to punk rock and working with the Rockats and Gears. This is her story as she lived and saw it. Parker is the music editor at Yahoo Entertainment and host of the daily SiriusXM Volume show "Volume West". Considered an expert in music and pop culture, Parker is an Online Journalism Award nominee and has written for Elle, Mojo, Rolling Stone, NME and Guitar. She has appeared as a commentator for the ABC special "The Show Must Go On: The Queen + Adam Lambert Story", AXS TV's "The Top Ten Revealed" and the documentary "I Want My MTV", as well as for VH1's "Behind The Music, CNN, MTV, The Insider and "Good Day L.A.". She is the author of "Careless Memories Of Strange Behavior: My Notorious Life As A Duran Duran Fan" (one of the first e-books published as part of Rhino Records' all-digital music book series, which went to #1 on the iTunes Music Books chart).

IRON MAIDEN's Bruce Dickinson sat down with Planet Rock's Wyatt to talk about taking part in the Heavy Metal Truants charity cycle ride to Download 2021, raising money for Nordoff Robbins, Childline, Teenage Cancer Trust and Save The Children. As well as that, they discussed Bruce's rather simple requirements when it comes to phones and bikes. After showing his "brand new old Nokia" phone to Wyatt, Bruce said: "Almost a year ago now, I got this smartphone from the MAIDEN office. They said, 'Here's your smartphone.' And there's a SIM card with it and everything. And I thought, 'That's very nice.' So I put it away and never touched it again — until Truants. And they said, 'You need to do this stuff — download your every move on this app.' And I [finally] put the SIM card in. So this whole process, actually, has encouraged me to put in the SIM card, and I now have a smartphone. So, basically, my life is going to suck from now on. I'll be living my life vicariously. But it does do interesting things." Founded in 2012 by MAIDEN manager Rod Smallwood and ex-Metal Hammer magazine editor-in-chief Alexander Milas, the Heavy Metal Truants have seen tremendous support from the music industry over the years. From Download promoter Andy Copping and John Giddings who runs Isle Of Wight festival, to musicians from bands including SAXON, TRIVIUM, PARADISE LOST and more they have all joined fans to put on the lycra and pedal the miles. The 2017 event was even waved off from Alexandra Palace by the one and only Brian Blessed! To help raise even more for the kids the Heavy Metal Truants have also run auctions including memorabilia personally donated by QUEEN, METALLICA, KISS, BON JOVI, MAIDEN and many more, alongside spoken-word events with legends of the heavy rock scene and even Heavy Metal Curry Nights. It begins on May 24 and concludes on June 4, which would have been the first day of this year's Download festival. The event is open to anyone who wishes to sign up and raise funds for Save The Children, Teenage Cancer Trust, Nordoff Robbins and NSPCC/Childline by completing a designated sponsored challenge. For more information, visit heavymetaltruants.com. If you are unable to join the ride but would like to make a donation, please go to: SportsGiving - Donate to HMT 2021: Nine Lives - Virtual Challenge The Heavy Metal Truants is part of The Truants Foundation, which has raised over £4 million for children's charities over the past 10 years. It became a registered charity: No. 1191441 in November 2020.

Earlier this week, ATREYU members Brandon Saller (vocals), Dan Jacobs (guitar) and Travis Miguel (guitar) performed an acoustic version of their song "Warrior" for the listeners of the Tucson rock radio station KFMA. You can now watch video of their performance below. "Warrior" is taken from ATREYU's upcoming album, "Baptize", which is due on June 4 via Spinefarm Records. The album version of the track features a guest appearance by BLINK-182 drummer Travis Barker. Regarding how the Barker collaboration came about, Brandon told Detroit's WRIF radio station: "That came really organically. John Feldmann, who produced the album — we've been making records with him for over a decade, and this is the third record we've done with him. He works really closely with Travis on a lot of [things] — he's done many of the BLINK records, and does a lot of projects with Travis. So [Travis] is kind of in and out of the house pretty often, like a couple of times a week. Just, like, 'What up, Trav?' He'll walk by and he's talking to John, and then he leaves. "When 'Warrior' came up, I had the concept of wanting to do a really big bridge that I wanted to feel like you were mid-bleachers at a high school football game — that energy of the drums and that kind of power," Saller continued. "And I'm not a technically trained marching [band player]. I was never in a marching band; I never was a rudiment guy. I never did that. I just wanted to be like Animal from The Muppets and beat up drums. So I was, like, 'I don't wanna try and fake this, 'cause it's not gonna sound how it's supposed to. I wanna get someone that's real.' And, obviously, Travis is so good at that; he kills that whole realm. So he was stoked to do it. He came in and just laid down a bunch of layers on layers on layers, and it sounds like I wanted it to — like you're in the middle of a football game… A song like 'Warrior', with the subject matter too, sonically, it needed to match the power of the lyric." "Baptize" marks ATREYU's first album since the departure of vocalist Alex Varkatzas last September. The LP showcases ATREYU's current lineup consisting of Saller focusing completely on singing after previously sharing lead vocals with Varkatzas for most of the band's two-decade-plus existence. Sitting behind the kit is Saller's HELL OR HIGHWATER bandmate Kyle Rosa, who had filled in for Saller on drums in 2019 after Varkatzas bowed out of the band's European tour while dealing with serious back and hernia issues. ATREYU previously stated about "Warrior": "'Warrior' is song about persistence and never giving up. We hope this song can be the puzzle piece that helps people realize that we ALL have the capacity for greatness. Sometimes, greatness can exist in the shadows and lives buried under negativity, trauma, or anxiety. 'Warrior' is about searching through all of that endless darkness to finally find the sunrise."

Time magazine named Slash No. 2, behind Jimi Hendrix, on its "The Ten Best Electric Guitar Players of All Time" list. Slash helped create signature sounds like the guitar riff on No. 1 hits for GUNS N ROSES, "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "Welcome To The Jungle". After leaving the band, Slash went on to critical acclaim with SLASH'S SNAKEPIT and global success with the supergroup VELVET REVOLVER. Slash's self-titled biography, critically well-received, climbed the bestseller list in both the U.S. and U.K., hitting No. 8 on the New York Times Bestsellers List. Slash landed on the top of the charts with his first solo album, "Slash" (2010) which featured Ozzy Osbourne, Fergie and more. Slash also released "Nothing Left To Fear" (2013) the first-ever motion picture he co-produced from Slasher Films, his film/TV production company.

RAMMSTEIN singer Till Lindemann will release a new solo single, "Ich Hasse Kinder" (English translation: "I Hate Kids"), on June 1. The first teaser for the song's official Serghey Grey-directed music video can be seen below. Earlier this month, Lindemann released a music video for the orchestral version of his latest solo single, "Lubimiy Gorod", sung entirely in Russian, for the original motion picture "Devyatayev", which came out on April 29. Translated as "Beloved Town", the piano-led ballad was composed by Yevgeniy Dolmatovsky (lyrics) and Nikita Bogoslovsky. It was originally performed by Mark Bernes in 1939. "Devyatayev", directed by Timur Bekmambetov, is about the Soviet pilot Mikhail Devyatayev, who was captured by Germany during World War II. He leads an escape from a concentration camp on the island of Usedom in the Baltic Sea by hijacking an aircraft. LINDEMANN, the project featuring vocalist Till and Swedish producer and multi-instrumentalist Peter Tägtgren (HYPOCRISY, PAIN), released a concert film, "Live In Moscow", on May 21 on Blu-ray. The set includes professionally filmed video footage of LINDEMANN's March 15, 2020 performance at Moscow, Russia's VTB Arena. Last November, Lindemann and Tägtgren confirmed that they were ending their collaboration on the LINDEMANN project. LINDEMANN's second album, "F & M", was released in November 2019. The follow-up to 2015's "Skills In Pills" was once again produced and mixed by Tägtgren. "Skills In Pills" reached gold status in Germany and was entirely in English. On the second opus, Lindemann went back to singing exclusively in German. LINDEMANN had received some criticism due to its use of pornography during its second album cycle, with the music video for "Platz Eins" described by one site as "full-on art porn — slick and stylish, weird and experimental, and definitely X-rated." This past February, RAMMSTEIN keyboardist Christian "Flake" Lorenz confirmed that the band recorded a new studio album during the coronavirus pandemic. Last October, RAMMSTEIN revealed that it had returned to La Fabrique studios in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, in the south of France. At the time, the band wrote in a social media post: "Sadly no tour this year - but it's great to be back in the studio!" RAMMSTEIN's seventh, untitled album came out in May 2019 via UME/Spinefarm in Europe and Caroline Records in the U.S. The band's first studio disc since 2009's "Liebe Ist Für Alle Da" debuted at No. 1 on the album charts in 14 countries and was the band's tenth No. 1 in Germany.

GREAT WHITE guitarist Mark Kendall spoke to the "Nothing Shocking" podcast about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the band's next album. The effort will mark GREAT WHITE's first collection of new material with singer Mitch Malloy, who joined the group in 2018 following the departure of Terry Ilous. "We have so much music right now," Mark said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET. "The way we've been doing it right now is I've been sending Mitch MP3s of music, and Michael Lardie's [guitar, keyboards] been doing that also, and he's coming back with full songs. It's really rocking. It's a wide range, but mostly just the heavy rock and some really, really cool riffs and good musical pieces in the songs, so the band can breathe. It's not just the singer singing over every note on the record. There's a lot of cool, cool stuff that, for sure, made me wanna play guitar. I'm playing the type of stuff that intrigued me and inspired me and made me wanna get better and improve. So I'm kind of writing like that. "If you look at any hit song from I don't care who it is — THE BEATLES — if you notice, there's not much going on when the singer's singing, but then there's a musical hook or something to where you don't divide someone's attention with the riff and singing at the same time; you always answer the vocal," he explained. "And so that's kind of he way we've written on this album that's not released yet — but we have a lot of material." According to Kendall, the coronavirus crisis delayed GREAT WHITE's plans to return to the studio and begin recording the follow-up to 2017's "Full Circle". "It was unfortunate that we got hit with the pandemic, because Mitch had only been in the band a few months, and then, all of a sudden, this flu virus [came along] that's just out of control," he said. "It was hard for us to get all together and go into a studio, 'cause even engineers are iffy about — they just want one person at a time and all this stuff. We're not that type of band. We would never make a virtual record where we send each other our parts. Because when we play together, that's when everything happens. If we did it online, there would be so much missing that would have been there had we all played in the same room, working the tunes up that way. A lot of things come up that aren't planned… You're not gonna get that with e-mails." Mark went on to praise Malloy, saying his addition to GREAT WHITE made the songwriting process easier. "With Mitch, I just send him music and he comes back with a song, which is really inspiring that he can do that," he said. "'Cause I think nobody can do that until they hear my brilliant idea, right? But Mitch is a songwriter — he has, like, 10 solo albums — so he's written plenty of songs. He understands song structure and all of that, so he can handle it. And, obviously, if I hear a vocal line that I think should be changed or something, that can always happen too. But it takes a lot of workload off me that I don't have to show singers every line or whatever." Ilous, frontman of '80s L.A. hard rockers XYZ, joined GREAT WHITE in 2010 after stepping in for touring vocalist Jani Lane (WARRANT). The Ilous-led GREAT WHITE released two albums, 2012's "Elation" and the aforementioned "Full Circle", before Terry was dismissed from the group. This version of GREAT WHITE is not to be confused with JACK RUSSELL'S GREAT WHITE, which features original GREAT WHITE singer Jack Russell alongside Robby Lochner (FIGHT) on guitar, Dan McNay on bass, Tony Montana on guitar and Dicki Fliszar on drums.

Norwegian black metal veterans SATYRICON have teamed up with Munch Museum for an upcoming exhibit, set to open in Oslo, Norway in early 2022. The exhibition "Satyricon & Munch" explores the intersection of black metal and visual art, where a specially composed musical work is connected with a selection of Edvard Munch's images. When you enter the large hall on Munch Museum's tenth floor, this exhibition will create an atmosphere that opens up new entrances to Munch's work, and to SATYRICON's music. Says SATYRICON: "Since the fall of 2018, SATYRICON has been working on the writing and recording of a musical work whose main objective is to create a symbiosis with Edvard Munch's iconic art in an exhibition that will be held at the new Munch Museum in Oslo, Norway, opening 26/3/2022. Following the exhibition will be the release of the musical work in album format, carrying the same title as the exhibition, 'Satyricon & Munch'. "We consider this massive challenge the greatest honor of our career. Edvard Munch created some of the most iconic images in the world of art and through his career demonstrated the kind of courage and freedom we have always embraced and aspired to us as artists ourselves. To write music whose ambition is to take the art of Munch into uncharted territory is quite a journey to be on. We look forward to sharing more details with you in the coming months." Earlier in the month, SATYRICON drummer Kjetil-Vidar "Frost" Haraldstad told the "Heavy Demons" radio show about the band's upcoming album: "We will continue to be unpredictable and creative and innovative, I hope. That flame has never died in us; it's still burning. We're moving ahead, and we're still evolving." SATYRICON's latest album, "Deep Calleth Upon Deep", was released in September 2017 via Napalm Records. The disc was recorded in Oslo, Norway and Vancouver, Canada, during early 2017 and mixed together with revered studio guru Mike Fraser (who previously worked on SATYRICON's 2006 album, "Now, Diabolical"). SATYRICON's first two albums, 1993's "Dark Medieval Times" and 1994's "The Shadowthrone", will be released as remixed and remastered reissues with altered cover artworks, on May 28 via Napalm Records.
