21 Savage has commented on the feud between Drake and Metro Boomin, saying that the two will “figure their shit out eventually”

The Atlanta-based rapper has famously worked with both Metro Boomin and Drake. At the beginning of his career, he and Boomin created the collaborative musical series ‘Savage Mode’.The first instalment came in 2016, where songs like ‘X’ and ‘No Heart’ catapulted the two to mainstream rap stardom, and the long-awaited sequel ‘Savage Mode II’ arrived in 2020.

Then, in 2022, Savage and Drake released their joint album ‘Her Loss’, which was nominated for many awards including multiple Grammys.

During an Instagram Live last Sunday (May 12), 21 Savage remained neutral in the feud, saying: “Don’t keep coming on to my muthafuckin’ live talking about no muthafuckin’ beef. Metro [is] my brother and Drake [is] my brother. Them n****s going to figure that shit out eventually.”

Metro Boomin and Drake have been going back and forth online since last year. The former had a problem with his critically acclaimed second album ‘Heroes & Villians’ not being nominated as much as ‘Her Loss’. This led to Boomin tweeting indirectly at Drake.

Their feud intensified in March when Boomin produced ‘Like That’ from his joint album with Future, ‘We Don’t Trust You’. On the track, Kendrick Lamar raps the now-infamous verse that ignited the Compton rapper’s own rap battle with Drake.

Drake shared memes that made fun of Boomin on Instagram and told the producer on ‘Push Ups’ – his first diss track of his and Lamar’s rap saga – to “shut up and make some drums“.

Simultaneously, Boomin shared tweets to mock Drake before old tweets of his would surface, showing him joking about paedophilia, sexual abuse and Rihanna‘s domestic abuse past. In one post, he seemingly implied that working with Soulja Boy wasn’t a high accomplishment.

“My phone rings to come to the studio with Jeezy,” Boomin tweeted in 2012. “Yours rings to send Soulja Boy a pack of beats. Sit down.”

Soulja Boy commented on Boomin’s tweet, telling him in an Instagram Live that he should “go delete that tweet”.

“I don’t give a fuck if it was three years old, I don’t give a fuck if it was 20 years old,” he said. He added in a caption: “He got 24 hours to delete that tweet”, to which 21 Savage replied: “Or what?”

Metro Boomin and Drake haven’t publicly announced that they have squashed their feud.

Soulja Boy has since issued an apology to Metro Boomin for tweets in which the ‘Crank That’ artist disrespected the producer’s late mother: “Condolences to his mom. I’m going to seek therapy and anger management. I’m done responding to hate, new or old.”

In other news, many have shared their beliefs that Drake and Lamar’s feud is over. The former shared a photograph of a Japanese Samurai about to take on an army of warriors with the caption: “Good times. Summer vibes up next.”

Elsewhere, 21 Savage is set to embark on a European festival tour this summer, including sets at Roskilde in Denmark, Wireless in London and Reading & Leeds.
