Zoë Kravitz has responded to Hulu’s High Fidelity being cancelled by the streaming service after just one season.

The cast, including the show’s star Kravitz, were notified of the decision on Wednesday (August 5).

Taking to Instagram, she shared behind-the-scenes pictures from the show and said: “I wanna give a shout out to my #highfidelity family. thank you for all the love and heart you put into this show. i’m in awe of all of you. and thank you to everyone who watched, loved and supported us.”

The first and only season of High Fidelity aired on Hulu in February this year and ran for ten episodes. While Hulu doesn’t release official viewership data, the series did receive strong reviews on Rotten Tomatoes upon its debut, scoring an 86 per cent approval rating from critics and 82 per cent from audiences.

A reinterpretation of the 2000 film and 1995 novel by Nick Hornby, the show was originally picked up in 2018 and developed for Disney+. The series was then moved to Hulu a year later in April 2019, after Disney gained control of the streaming platform. It was decided that High Fidelity would be a better-fit for Hulu’s older audience, rather than Disney+’s family-friendly demographic.

Kravitz starred in the romantic comedy as Rob, a music and pop culture loving record store owner. Set in Brooklyn, the series followed her as she grappled with failed past relationships.

Kravitz’s mother, Lisa Bonet, starred in the original film.

The show was created by Veronica West and Sarah Kucerska, who were also the executive producers. The pair expressed their long-term vision for the series during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in February, where they said, “I think we’re going to go on relationship stories and other kinds of stories with Cherise and Simon and the universe will continue to expand.

“Hopefully there are more seasons of ‘High Fidelity'”.

Tekashi 6ix9ine has shared a new single called ‘Punani’ to mark his release from house arrest, along with an accompanying film clip.

The rapper, real name Daniel Hernandez, posted the short video to YouTube just hours after his official release yesterday (August 2), featuring footage shot in Brooklyn.

The clip for the expletive-laden track shows Hernandez rapping in a playground with a group of people, sitting on the bonnet of a moving Lamborghini and making a post-house arrest trip to McDonalds.

“I’M FREE !!” he wrote on Instagram following his release, also referring to himself as the “KING OF FUCKING NEW YORK”.

Hernandez was initially expected to serve between 37 years and life in prison after pleading guilty to an array of charges in December last year, including racketeering, conspiracy and attempted murder.

However, the rapper’s sentence was cut back to 24 months after he began cooperating with authorities and testifying against other members of the Nine Trey Bloods gang.

Hernandez was granted permission to serve the last of his sentence under house arrest in April, due to coronavirus concerns.

He stayed musically active during his months at home, releasing a number of singles and video clips, including ‘Gooba’, which broke the YouTube record for biggest 24-hour debut in hip-hop. He also recorded ‘Trollz’ with Nicki Minaj, which earned him his first number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Thundercat has written a new song for ThunderCats Roar, the new Cartoon Network revival of the original 1985 animated series.

The track is a theme song of sorts for villain Grune the Destroyer and was announced during the show’s panel session at Comic-Con at Home.

Thundercat, a self-proclaimed fan of the cartoon series, appeared on the panel to answer questions about his obsession with the show.

“I remember my mum used to have to pull me back from the TV because like between He Man, ThunderCats and Silverhawks, it was like I got closer to the screen,” he said.

“As soon as the cats got on screen I was like ‘wow, cat people’ and it started there.”

He went on to explain how he ended up with Thundercat moniker.

“It became a name that was given to me because in the middle of working on stuff anytime somebody needed to find me, my friends would go ‘find the guy with the ThunderCats shirt.'”

“The first people to call me Thundercat genuinely were between my friends, at the time they were a duo, J*Davey, and Erykah Badu, and Sa-Ra Creative Partners. And they would all start referring to me as Thundercat.”

In addition to composing a song for the reboot, the musician will also have a guest starring role on the show.

Thundercat released his latest record ‘It Is What It Is’ in April this year. It featured the single ‘Fair Chance’, with Ty Dolla $ign and Lil B, and was a tribute to the late Mac Miller.

Mac Miller’s team are working on a new tribute project to celebrate the late rapper’s life and music.

The announcement, made overnight on Warner’s Twitter account, asked fans to offer their “stories, thoughts and wishes” by calling a toll-free number which had been set up specifically for the project. It included a website address, where fans must register to gain access to the number and leave their tributes.

The message from Warner lists no title for the project or a release date.

Earlier this year, Warner released Miller’s posthumous album ‘Circles’, his sixth body of work. Miller had been working on the album before he died from an accidental drug overdose in September 2018, aged 26.

‘Circles’ was completed after Miller’s death by producer Jon Brion, who had also worked with the late rapper on the record ‘Swimming’.

NME’s four-star review of ‘Circles’ described the album as “a conflicting, tantalising taste of what might have been”.

“While it’s hard to listen to him talking about self-deterioration and how he spends far too much time in his own head, it’s a privilege to hear him share his inner most thoughts over a bed of sweeping, inventive sonics.

“This is the album Mac Miller was born to make.”
