Stevie Nicks makes first public statement on Lindsey Buckingham’s exit from Fleetwood Mac

“It’s unfortunate that Lindsey has chosen to tell a revisionist history of what transpired”

Stevie Nicks has made her first public statement on her bandmate and ex-partner Lindsey Buckingham‘s exit from Fleetwood Mac three years ago.

The guitarist was fired from the veteran group back in 2018, and was replaced by Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers’ Mike Campbell and Crowded House’s Neil Finn. At the time, it was reported that his exit came following “a disagreement over the band’s upcoming tour”.

In July this year, Buckingham blamed his exit on Nicks, saying the band’s manager Irving Azoff told him, “Stevie never wants to be on a stage with you again.”

Now, Nicks has responded in a statement to Rolling Stone, accusing him of telling a “revisionist history” of what happened.

Her statement in full says:

“It’s unfortunate that Lindsey has chosen to tell a revisionist history of what transpired in 2018 with Fleetwood Mac. His version of events is factually inaccurate, and while I’ve never spoken publicly on the matter, preferring to not air dirty laundry, certainly it feels the time has come to shine a light on the truth.

“Following an exceedingly difficult time with Lindsey at MusiCares in New York, in 2018, I decided for myself that I was no longer willing to work with him. I could publicly reflect on the many reasons why, and perhaps I will do that someday in a memoir, but suffice it to say we could start in 1968 and work up to 2018 with a litany of very precise reasons why I will not work with him.

“To be exceedingly clear, I did not have him fired, I did not ask for him to be fired, I did not demand he be fired. Frankly, I fired myself. I proactively removed myself from the band and a situation I considered to be toxic to my well-being. I was done. If the band went on without me, so be it.

“I have championed independence my whole life, and I believe every human being should have the absolute freedom to set their boundaries of what they can and cannot work with. And after many lengthy group discussions, Fleetwood Mac, a band whose legacy is rooted in evolution and change, found a new path forward with two hugely talented new members.

“Further to that, as for a comment on “family”—I was thrilled for Lindsey when he had children, but I wasn’t interested in making those same life choices. Those are my decisions that I get to make for myself. I’m proud of the life choices I’ve made, and it seems a shame for him to pass judgment on anyone who makes a choice to live their life on their own terms, even if it looks differently from what his life choices have been.”

Meanwhile, Buckingham is set to release his new self-titled solo album on September 17. He has previewed the project with the singles ‘I Don’t Mind’ and ‘On The Wrong Side’.

Tommy Genesis shares new album trailer, UK and Ireland tour dates

“The X is the unknown factor, the experimental element, the punk”

Tommy Genesis has shared a trailer for her new album, ‘Goldilocks X’, as well as a string of tour dates across the UK and Ireland next spring.

The rapper will play Dublin, Glasgow, Manchester, and London between April 29 and May 4, ahead of the release of her studio album of the same name via Downtown Records tomorrow (September 10).

Genesis has also shared a Apluz Filmz-directed trailer promoting ‘Goldilocks X’, which shows the artist wandering through the woods before arriving in a cabin with a giant teddy bear. Watch the teaser clip below.

“Goldilocks is that feeling when things feel “just right”. Like you’re entering a space that makes sense, you just can’t put your finger on why but it just does,” she explained in a press release. “You don’t know why you like it but you do. The X is the unknown factor, the experimental element, the punk.”

Tommy Genesis’ upcoming 2022 tour dates are:

April 29 – Dublin, Green Room at The Academy
May 01 – Glasgow, SWG3
May 02 – Manchester, YES (The Pink Room)
May 04 – London, Village Underground

In a 2019 interview with NME, Genesis wrote about coining the genre term “fetish rap”: “I think it would be limiting if fetish rap existed before but I literally just made the term up and now I see other people using it, which I love. I used to be paranoid that it was limiting because someone told me it was and then I realised the only thing that’s limiting is saying it is.

“I also think people misunderstand what I meant by it because for me fetish obviously implies something sexual but it also just means that it’s not for everyone. But if you fuck with it, you really fuck with it.”

KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons, who tested positive for COVID-19 more than a week ago, gave an update on his breakthrough case during a September 8 appearance on KTLA 5 Morning News. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Yes, I did test positive for COVID, but because I got my Pfizer vaccines twice, and because my immune system is really good, I have zero — zero — side effects. Literally, I don't feel a thing. But out of respect to everybody else, I've self-quarantined right here in L.A. And the days have passed — it's now been 13 or 14 days, so I'm perfectly fine. Tomorrow, KISS [will perform] at Irvine. We're gonna shake the heavens." Asked what reaction he had when he was told that he tested positive for COVID-19, Gene said: "I was shocked. I have to tell you I was shocked, because everything was fine — the energy level was great, the appetite was great — great, great, great. And I never get sick… I don't get headaches. "You've gotta take care of your health, for all of you," he continued. "Even the Flat Earth Society that believes the earth is flat. There is such a thing, there's a pandemic. Out of respect to your neighbor, out of courtesy, you don't want anybody getting sick. Get tested. Get your vaccines. It's okay. "I mean, it's shocking that if you're sneezing, and that's not a life-threatening event, you would immediately put your hand up, 'cause you don't want germs to spread. But with COVID, people have a knee-jerk reaction. "Please get vaccinated," he reiterated. "It's gonna be okay. Get over yourself. It's not about you. It's about the rest of us." KISS announced on August 31 that its next four tour dates would be pushed back after Simmons tested positive for the virus and was experiencing "mild" symptoms. Just days earlier, Simmons's bandmate Paul Stanley also tested positive for COVID-19. The postponed shows were set to take place on September 1 in Clarkston, Michigan; September 2 in Dayton, Ohio; September 4 in Tinley Park, Illinois; and September 5 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The legendary rockers were previously forced to reschedule their August 26 show in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, August 28 concert in Raleigh, North Carolina and August 29 gig in Atlanta, Georgia after Stanley tested positive. Stanley reassured fans that he was "fine" and had not been hospitalized, but said he was suffering "flu-like symptoms" before finally testing positive. On August 30, he wrote on Twitter: "My COVID symptoms were MILD compared to many others and let me tell you… It kicked my ass. It's over now." When Stanley first tested positive on August 26, KISS said the whole band and the crew members who are traveling with them on the tour are fully vaccinated. Members of KISS "and their crew have operated in a bubble independently to safeguard everyone as much as possible at each show and in between shows," the band wrote in the statement. "The tour also has a COVID safety protocol officer on staff full-time that is ensuring everyone is closely following all CDC guidelines," the statement continued. KISS kicked off the summer 2021 leg of its "End Of The Road" farewell tour on August 18 at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Massachusetts. The concert marked the band's first full-length live appearance in front of an audience since March 2020. KISS's farewell trek was launched in January 2019 and was originally scheduled to conclude on July 17, 2021 in New York City but is now expected to last well into 2022. KISS's current lineup consists of original members Stanley and Simmons, alongside later band additions, guitarist Tommy Thayer (since 2002) and drummer Eric Singer (on and off since 1991). Formed in 1973 by Stanley, Simmons, Peter Criss (drums) and Ace Frehley (guitar), KISS staged its first "farewell" tour in 2000, the last to feature the group's original lineup.

Toys For Bob celebrate 25th anniversary of ‘Crash Bandicoot’ with a video

One studio head said of the bandicoot “we’ll see more of you very soon”

The developer of Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time Toys For Bob has celebrated the series 25th anniversary with a wholesome video.

The video, which is embedded below, is just one of the many celebrations of the bandicoot’s 25th birthday. It takes a look at some of the games from the franchise’s history, and of course we get another look at the terrifying Crash suit used to promote some of the games.

Co-studio head at Toys For Bob Paul Yan said “he’s saved the day more times than he can count, and earned his spot as one of gaming’s greatest icons.” Whilst the other studio head Avery Lodato added at the end of the video “happy 25th anniversary Crash, we’ll see more of you very soon.”

The 25th anniversary of Crash Bandicoot coincides with the upcoming PlayStation showcase, which will present details on upcoming PS5 games, but there has been no word of a potential Crash 5.

Toys For Bob are now working on the Call Of Duty franchise after Activision brought in every single one of its core studios to work on the series, and whilst this doesn’t directly deconfirm that Toys For Bob is working on more Crash, it makes it somewhat unlikely.

None of this has stopped the speculation however, as yesterday the official Crash Bandicoot Twitter account teased today’s anniversary by calling it a “certain party”, to which one user replied “one might call this party a Crash…Bash?….”

Crash Bash is now the only Crash Bandicoot game from PS1 not remastered, and whilst there isn’t any confirmation fans are certainly clamouring for it.

In other news, a Twisted Metal game is apparently in the works according to a journalist and other sources and it’s meant to coincide with an upcoming TV show.

‘Bugsnax’ developer Young Horses moves to four-day work week

“I think we’re going to be better off in the long run”

The post ‘Bugsnax’ developer Young Horses moves to four-day work week appeared first on NME.

NME

Young Horses, the developer of edible critter title Bugsnaxhas announced that it is moving to a four-day work week.

The change comes after a four-day work week was trialled at the studio (thanks, Axios) in July as part of a unanimous decision. Co-founder and president Phil Tibitoski told Axois “if we’re all happier to be at work because we’re well-rested, I think we’re going to be better off in the long run.”

The eight person team was already set to work 35 hours a week, so the reduction to four-day weeks has only lost each member three hours. “Might as well give people the peace of mind that they can relax doing their own thing on their own time than have someone feel guilty for doing it at work,” added Tibitoski.

“We know what we have to get done and by when, or we’re making our own schedule entirely and things get done when they get done.”

“It was easier for us to implement because to measure our small team’s output is simple relative to those bigger studios, so our trial period and decision-making is faster than a studio who has to get buy-in from so many departments and investors,” he continued.

Tibitoski also said that four-day work weeks are possible at larger studios but that they need to “buy-in from the top and their goals/processes/expectations have to be adapted to support the change.”

The change holds particular relevance after developers on both Psychonauts 2 and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart came out publicly to say that both teams didn’t participate in crunch – which is when severe working conditions come into play due to the need to meet deadlines – as it is a fairly common industry occurrence.

In other news, a developer on the original Metroid Prime has said on a podcast that the game had a “death march” towards the end of development to get the game finished, and that Nintendo stepping in is what improved the company culture.
