Pantera have announced dates in Europe for 2023 – see full dates below and find tickets here.

The metal band, who formed in 1981 and disbanded in 2003, announced their return earlier this summer. Singer Philip Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown signed a deal with Artist Group International for a series of US tour dates next year, the band’s first in 20 years.

Zakk Wylde, who fronts the metal band Black Label Society, was announced as Pantera’s new guitarist back in July. He serves as the replacement for original bandmate Dimebag Darrell, who was killed onstage in 2004. Following the subsequent death of drummer Vinnie Paul in 2018, Pantera went on a four-year hiatus. Anthrax’s Charlie Benante will perform for the band on drums.

The band will head to Europe in May and June next year, kicking off their tour in Sofia, Bulgaria on May 26, with further dates in Hungary, Austria, Poland, Czech Republic and Germany.

Tickets will be available at 8am local time on Friday, November 25 and can be found here.

The first four dates of Pantera’s reunion tour were announced in August, with the band to play a number of festivals.

The first of those festivals will be Heaven & Hell in Mexico, where alongside Scorpions, Pantera will co-headline the first night on December 2. They’ll perform there alongside the likes of MeshuggahArch EnemyEpica and Cradle Of Filth, while other headliners billed for the festival include Slipknot and Judas Priest on December 3, and KISS on December 4.

From there, Pantera will head to South America for a trio of Knotfest events in the region. The first will go down in Colombia on December 9, where the group are billed alongside Judas Priest and Bring Me The Horizon. They’re down as the sub-headliners for Knotfest Chile on Sunday 11, where Slipknot – who own and curate the festival – will take the top spot.

Lastly, Pantera will perform on the Carnival Stage at Knotfest Brasil on December 18. Find ticketing details for that show here, with Columbia’s available here and Chile’s here. Furthermore, tickets for Heaven & Hell can be found here.

Earlier this month, Zakk Wylde revealed that in preparation for the upcoming tour, he had been using online tutorials to learn the band’s guitar parts.

Appearing in an episode of Ola Englund’s webseries Sunday With Ola, Wylde said that whenever he’s “stumped” on a particular riff, he “would just [search], ‘How to play’, and I’d go on to YouTube and just see all these other amazing players playing the stuff.”

Wylde also revealed that Anselmo sent him the tour’s setlist earlier this year, noting that he’s been preparing for the songs on it using guitars gifted to him by Dimebag.

Glorilla has gifted a fan $1000 (£829) to help them pay their bills after they tagged the rapper on Facebook.

As per HipHopDX, the fan asked Glorilla for financial help last Friday (November 18), writing: “Aye can I borrow 400 until next week?” and then adding, “I’LL PAY BACK SUH #HELPASISTAOUT #CASHAPPME.”

Glorilla then asked the fan what they would be spending the money on, to which they replied that they needed money for bills ahead of their birthday.

In the comments section of the Facebook post, one user backed the woman’s story, writing: “This is my best friend… she works hella hard to take care of three children ALL BY HERSELF while working full time! [She has] been busting her a$$ and she deserves a break…”

Later, the same fan posted a screenshot of the money received on CashApp, with the added message from Glorilla, “Stay blessed.”

Earlier this week, Cardi B and Glorilla joined forces at the American Music Awards for a performance of ‘Tomorrow 2’.

The pair’s new collaboration, a remix of Glorilla’s recent single ‘Tomorrow’, was released in September. ‘Tomorrow’ was released earlier this summer and followed GloRilla’s viral TikTok hit ‘F.N.F. (Let’s Go)’.

Talking to NME about the collaboration in a recent Radar interview, Glorilla said: “I ain’t got a lot of friends, and I’m just easy to deal with. Cardi is my cousin. I was so happy and excited during the whole creative process.

“Cardi is a really sweet soul and has such a genuine heart, and we come from a similar background, so it was easy to connect. And it was crazy when [‘Tomorrow 2’] hit the charts. I was like, ‘Ah! Ain’t nobody know about me a couple months ago!”

In other news, Glorilla was recently nominated for a Grammy in the Best Rap Performance category for ‘F.N.F. (Let’s Go)’.

“The same song they was clowning me & my friends about saying we was Ugly & Dusty just got nominated for a Grammy,” she wrote on Twitter in response to the nomination. “WHEN GOD IS ON YOUR SIDE YOU CANNOT FAIL.”

The winners are set to be announced at the 65th Grammy Awards ceremony on February 5, 2023.

‘The Hobbit’ star attributes hiking incident to elves

“They said, ‘Son, you don’t need that here! We’re going to take that technology away from you'”

Lee Pace, who played Thranduil in the Hobbit trilogy, has shared an anecdote from his time on set that he believes may have involved the work of mischievous elves.

The actor explained in a new interview that he misplaced his phone on a particularly long hike, and couldn’t work out where it had gone.

“When I was shooting The Hobbit in New Zealand, I would always go on a big hike where I would backpack and camp,” he told Vulture. “I did Lake Waikaremoana, and I did the Tongariro Northern Circuit, which is about a five-day hike that takes you basically up to where they shot Mount Doom. I was taking pictures with my phone, and on the second day I reached for my phone and I couldn’t find it.”

He continued: “When I was making camp, I’d tear apart my pack, looking for my phone, thinking, It must be in here somewhere! It must be in here! Three days go by, the phone is nowhere to be. I mean, I’ve lost it. I’m certain I left it back there.”

However, Pace found the phone stuck to his back on the last night, and immediately began to speculate on the meaning of it all.

“Elves. That’s elves!” he said. “They said, ‘Son, you don’t need that here! We’re going to take that technology away from you! You need to think about other things. Look around, be where you are, you don’t need that phone. It will not help you’.”

Speaking to NME in an interview last month (October 23), meanwhile, Charlie Vickers gave some hints as to what to expect from Sauron in season 2 of The Rings Of Power.

“All I can say is we’re getting into the meat of it now. The world has been established in season one and now we can get into the lore. I’m talking about the stuff at the heart of The Rings Of Power: the Akalabeth [the downfall of the kingdom of Numenor],” he explained.

“Sauron is out there now and there’s no longer any questions or theories about who he is – which is a shame for some I guess. We’re gonna be with him while he’s doing shit, while he’s out there manipulating people and taking on the elves.”

Travis Scott and Skepta to headline Art Basel festival dedicated to Virgil Abloh

Travis Scott and Skepta are headlining the inaugural Mirror Mirror festival at Art Basel next month in dedication to Virgil Abloh.

The one-day music festival is held next Saturday (December 3) at the FPL Solar Amphitheater in Miami, Florida, US as part of Miami Beach’s programme of events for the annual art fair.

DJ and designer Abloh died last year at the age of 41 after living with cancer for several years. The influential Off-White fashion designer, who also worked for fashion brands including Louis Vuitton, had close links with the music industry including designing album covers for Kanye West and Jay-Z.

The Mirror Mirror line-up, which has been curated by DJ and producer Benji B, features Yves Tumor, Pedro, Venus X, Bambii, Rampa and Acyde. Benji B will also perform.

According to a press statement the festival takes inspiration from old world fairs with an aim to bring together people from music, art, design, tech, film, fashion and sport. Tickets are on sale now at the Mirror Mirror website.

Mirror Mirror is being spearheaded by Virgil Abloh Securities, a creative company founded by Abloh. All net profits from the event will be donated to support the launch of the Virgil Abloh Foundation in 2023.

“Virgil had the ability to bring everyone together to create magic,” said Abloh’s widow, Shannon, who now serves as the CEO and Managing Director of Virgil Abloh Securities.

“With his close collaborators, we wanted to bring everyone together to celebrate Virgil – his legacy, his passion, and his care for others. He believed his real work was championing others and we will continue his work supporting youth in the arts with the launch of the Virgil Abloh Foundation in 2023.”

Meanwhile, last week Travis Scott joined forces with Pharrell Williams to release a new collaborative song, ‘Down In Atlanta’.
