Five Nights At Freddy's

A second Five Nights At Freddy’s film is one the way at Universal Pictures and Blumhouse.

According to a report from Variety, Universal Pictures and Blumhouse confirmed the horror film’s sequel while at CinemaCon. However, the upcoming film’s title, cast, plot details and release date have yet to be announced.

Based on the horror survival game franchise of the same name, Five Nights At Freddy’s received a live-action feature-length adaption last year. First launched in 2014, Five Nights At Freddy’s has spawned multiple mainline games, books and a big screen adaptation.

Last year’s film starred Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games) and Matthew Lillard (Scream) among others. It tells the story of Mike (Hutcherson), a security guard working at a Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza Place, where the outlet’s creepy animatronic mascots come alive with murderous intent.

Earlier this year, Josh Hutcherson revealed that progress was being made behind-the-scenes for a sequel to Five Nights At Freddy’s. While he was not able to confirm his involvement in the sequel, Hutcherson said he’s “excited to see what they are doing next”.

Five Nights At Freddy’s scored a two-star review at NME, with James Mottram writing: “With Blumhouse collaborating with the legendary Jim Henson Creature Shop (yes, the team behind The Muppets) to bring Freddy and co. to life, you’d expect a lot more. But these antagonists – if that’s even what they are – are so lifeless, even when they’re playing some musical instruments to Iggy Pop’s ‘Real Wild Child’. At least Scream star Matthew Lillard brings some creepiness into his little screen time. Otherwise, Five Nights At Freddy’s is moribund.”
