J Cole new documentary Applying Pressure the Off Season Documentary

J. Cole has released a new documentary called Applying Pressure: The Off-Season Documentary.

The 12-minute documentary, which premiered May 10, is about the making of the rapper’s new album ‘The Off-Season’ which lands on Friday (May 14). It’s the long-awaited follow-up to 2018’s ‘KOD’.

The video opens with Cole talking to 21 Savage about his album title and approaching his career like an athlete complete with training and drills. “One more time before I leave, before I feel like I’m fulfilled in this game, let me try to reach new heights from a skill level standpoint,” he tells 21.

Elsewhere in the docu, Cole talks about guarding against the complacency brought by comfort and luxury, how becoming a father changed him, and more. Watch it below:

Last week (May 7), Cole released a new track called ‘Interlude’. At the time of the song’s release, he told fans he had initially planned to share the whole album at the same time. “Sometimes you gotta say fuck it tho,” he said.

Late last year, Cole shared a picture of a notepad on Instagram that mapped out a pathway for what he dubbed “The Fall Off Era”, which shows ‘The Off-Season’ being followed by a project called ‘It’s A Boy’ and then, finally, ‘The Fall Off’.

‘The Fall Off’ was previously speculated to be the rapper’s next album, due to the final song on ‘KOD’ being titled ‘1985 (Intro To The Fall Off)’.
