John Cena has opened up about the rumoured animosity between Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel.

The three actors have all starred in the popular car racing franchise, Fast & Furious, with Cena making his first appearance in the ninth instalment as Jakob Toretto, the brother of Dominic (played by Diesel).
Johnson appeared in five of the movies and a 2019 spin off as Luke Hobbs, a former Diplomatic Security Service agent.
Speaking on Dax Shepherd’s Armchair Expert podcast, Cena weighed in on the reported feud between Johnson and Diesel.
The actor and former WWE wrestler said: “There’s certainly rumours about that. I can’t deny that.”
He explained: “You have two very alpha, driven people. You get two. There can only be one.”
The rumours began in 2016 when Johnson made an Instagram post during the filming of The Fate Of The Furious, in which he made disparaging comments about an unnamed co-star.
“Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don’t,” Johnson wrote at the time. “The ones that don’t are too chicken shit to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses.”
He continued: “When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling — you’re right.”
Ahead of the release of the film, Diesel told USA Today that the feud had been “blown out of proportion” by fans, according to Us Weekly. “I don’t think the world really realises how close we are, in a weird way,” shared Diesel.
“I think some things may be blown out of proportion. I don’t think that was his intention. I know he appreciates how much I work this franchise. In my house, he’s Uncle Dwayne.”
Five years later, Johnson spoke to Vanity Fair about his regrets surrounding the Instagram post. He told the magazine in 2021: “I shouldn’t have shared that.”
The Moana star continued: “Because at the end of the day, that goes against my DNA. I don’t share things like that. And I take care of that kind of bullshit”away from the public. They don’t need to know that. That’s why I say it wasn’t my best day.”
He added: “I meant what I said. For sure. I mean what I say when I say it. But to express it publicly was not the right thing to do.”
In other recent news, Johnson has revealed that he won’t be endorsing President Joe Biden in the upcoming US election.
