Seth Rogen has elaborated on his recent comments on a rumour that Emma Watson walked off set during filming for a specific scene in the 2013’s This Is The End.
Speaking to British GQ earlier this week, Rogen appeared to confirm that Watson walked off set due to feeling uncomfortable about a particular scene set to be included in the film, where Danny McBride embraces cannibalism and Channing Tatum plays his prisoner while wearing a gimp mask.
Now, Rogen has taken to Twitter to explain the situation in more detail, saying the interview “misrepresents what actually happened”.
“Emma Watson did not ‘storm off the set’ and it’s shitty that the perception is that she did,” Rogen wrote in a statement on March 29.
“The scene was not what was originally scripted, it was getting improvised, changed drastically and was not what she agreed to. The narrative that she was in some way uncool or unprofessional is complete bullshit. I for sure should have communicated better and because I didn’t, she was put in an uncomfortable position.”
“She and I spoke on the night; it was overall a shitty situation and it must have been hard for her to say something and I’m very happy and impressed that she did,” he continued.
“We agreed on her not being in the scene together. I was thrilled for the opportunity to work with her and would be thrilled to get that opportunity again. I am very sorry and disappointed it happened, and I wish I had done more to prevent it.”

In the 2013 comedy This Is The End, Rogen was joined by Watson, James Franco, McBride, Rihanna and more, all playing exaggerated versions of themselves who get stuck in Franco’s house while the apocalypse plays out.
In his earlier comments to British GQ, Rogen said of the Watson incident, “I mean, I don’t look back on that and think, ‘How dare she do that?’ You know?”
“I think sometimes when you read something, when it comes to life it doesn’t seem to be what you thought it was.”
“But it was not some terrible ending to our relationship,” he added. “She came back the next day to say goodbye. She helped promote the film. No hard feelings and I couldn’t be happier with how the film turned out in the end.”
Reflecting on how the scene was changed in the film due to Watson’s objection, Rogen said: “She was probably right. It was probably funnier the way we ended up doing it.”
Elsewhere, Seth Rogen’s new cannabis lifestyle site temporarily crashed earlier this month due to a high demand.
Rogen founded Houseplant with his writing partner Evan Goldberg and producers James Weaver and Alex McAtee. It offers cannabis for delivery in California and home goods, such as ashtrays and lighters.
