Tyler, The Creator has shared a message to his fans who are heading to Coachella ahead of his headlining set at this year’s festival.

The Grammy Award-winning rapper is one of three headliners of the annual music and arts festival in Indio, California this weekend (April 12-14), alongside Lana Del Rey and Doja Cat. The ‘Who Dat Boy’ rapper is set to hit the main stage at Coachella, closing out Saturday (April 13).

Ahead of the weekend, various billboards by different Coachella acts have been popping up alongside the drive into greater Palm Springs. Tyler, The Creator created a billboard to inform fans that he would rather see the crowd’s faces than their phones. “I would love to see y’all faces and not your phone lights,” read the sign with a smiley face drawn below.

Tyler has been vocal about his creative values over the years, always expressing the importance of being in the moment. In a 2022 interview with Converse’s All Star Series – a brand he has frequently collaborated with alongside his brand Golf Wang – Tyler opened up about NFTs.

“What the fuck is an NFT, bro, if I’m really outside?” he said. “I bought a Mini Cooper three weeks ago, 1991 Rover Mini Cooper, just to put a fucking bike rack on it to drive to San Pedro to ride my bike down the hills out there because it’s awesome. I’m really outside. What the fuck is an NFT?”

In other news, the rapper has recently teamed up with luxury brand Louis Vuitton for the creation of a capsule collection.

Speaking about the collection with GQ, Pharrell – who is the the men’s creative director for Louis Vuitton – said over email: “Tyler has been my close friend and collaborator for years and we’ve always connected on music and design. This collaboration is unique to Louis Vuitton because it’s a natural extension of our LVERS philosophy, building on our network of incredible artists and creatives. There are so many elements specific to Tyler built into these pieces and it’s been inspiring to see him hone in on his craft and collaborate with him for this Spring collection.”
