Shoegaze pioneers Drop Nineteens have returned and played their first show in 30 years.

The band took over The Atlantis in Washington D.C. last night (April 17) with a strong comeback performance filled with tracks from their 2023 album ‘Hard Light‘, as well as older hits from their earlier works.

Drop Nineteens also took time to tackle Lana Del Rey‘s ‘White Dress’ from her 2021 LP ‘Chemtrails Over the Country Club’ and Madonna‘s 1984 track ‘Angel’. The band wrapped up their set with a live debut of their 1992 song ‘Kick The Tragedy’.

Last year, The band had announced a US comeback tour that was slated to take place in October 2023 and was comprised of  six dates, beginning in Washington DC and ending in Oakland, California.

They ended up pushing back the tour to 2024 and announced that they were not ready to play live yet, blaming “a constellation of personal and practical factors.” Check out the full list of tour dates below and visit here for any remaining tickets.

Discussing their comeback last year, singer and songwriter Greg Ackell said: “The intent on ‘Delaware’ was to reflect that time in our lives, which I think it did accurately.

“Having considered ‘Delaware’ before embarking on ‘Hard Light’, we wanted to make an honest, reflective album representing who we are now, which is, well, older. I’ve been struggling to find an answer to the question ‘why now?’ What was the catalyst for getting back together after so long?

“The best answer I can come up with is this was the first moment in my life since stopping making music that I got curious to hear what Drop Nineteens might sound like now. And there was only one way to find out!”
